Im just confused, i went for my interview today at the new york office. i have a family-based i-485 application through my american citizen mother. after a couple of questions the interviewer asked for my passport and said that everything's ok but they still need to do a background check. he just wrote i-485 pending on the last page of my passport but also said that i should get my green card in 2-3 weeks. what does this mean?

It means that they approve you for Green Card pending completion of name check, and that you should see something in the mail in 2-3 weeks.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

It's good news, I would say congrats is on the way, once the background check is cleared you will get your green card, the same thing happened to us, so let say after 90 days you still have not received your green card you can make an infopass appointment and they will put the I551 stamp on your passport in case you need to travel overseas.

Congrats

this does not sound like a namecheck to me. Namechecks have no timelines, nor can the adjudicating officer estimate when the FBI will complete the check.
