Hello all,

I wanted to post about what seems like a misleading portion of the K1 guides, for when a K1 visa holder is filing for their AOS. In the tips section, http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1aos , it states that regardless of having had a medical exam in the past year, any k1/k2/k3/k4 visa holder must submit an i-693 signed by a civil surgeon when they file their i-485. After exhaustively reviewing the requirements on the USCIS site, as well as a few other guides and forum topics here on visajourney, it really seems clear that an i-693 is ONLY required if your vaccination records are incomplete (or possibly if your medical examination was done more than a year before filing the i-485, which is extremely unlikely in the case of any K visa holders).

All evidence other than that one tip seems to point to an i-693 only being required if your vaccinations weren't completed as part of your medical examination, which isn't required before entering the USA in some countries according to this FAQ: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/101202-faqs-forms-i-693-and-ds-3025/

Anyone else here notice this? I'm wondering if I'm just reading the "tips" page wrong. If I'm not, then perhaps that page should be edited? I understand that perhaps it says that just to be on the safe side, but I also have heard that submitting unnecessary materials can also slow down your case.

By the way, to the admins of this site and all the wonderful members of the forums, I have to say a heartfelt "thank you". This site has been our constant go-to resource for every question about every minute detail in navigating the sea of forms that seem to be required when someone happens to want to marry a foreigner. So far me and my (as of a few weeks ago) wife have successfully filed our K applications, she's made it here, we've gotten SS numbers, and now we're submitting our AOS, with a lot of help from all you guys.

Yes, that tip is outdated anyway and it is always confusing to people. The AOS forum is full of questions about the DS-3025 and I-693. The new I-693 requires Page 1 and the vaccinations page to be completed by a civil surgeon. This is only if you did not have all the required vaccinations at the time of the K-1 medical marked off on a properly filled out DS-3025. This post by Nich-Nick explains it all beautifully, and certainly much better than that tip> http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/428381-i-693-report-of-medical-examination-and-vaccination-report/?p=6206232
