My daughter is a full time student (second year). She is planning to apply for K-1 visa for her fiance next month. She has about $6000 in the bank in her name. She is just doing some hourly job on campus for few hours at the school. As a parent, can I sponsor for her fiance? How should we resolve this issue? Has anyone had experience like this? Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kabilan.

Yes You can file an affidavit of support (I-134) for the visa interview to show that beneficiary won't become public charge.

After marriage and doing adjustment of status, your daughter has to file an I-864 and you can co-sponsor using I-864A if they live in the same household as you, or you file and additional I-864 if they don't live in the same household.

Kabilan,

The fellow must apply for his own visa after your daughter's petition is appoved, she cannot do it for him.

A visa petition is not a visa application, it is a request that the alien be recognized as qualified to apply for a visa.
