Hi guys,

I'm really upset because I've been waiting for my advanced parole for 61 days now and still no biometric appt. letter. NOTHING! They said that I will get a formal letter explaining what's taking so long within 15 days of me requesting the information (in this case April 28th). But the last time I called, the man said that I should tack on another 30 days to this because there was something that happened at the processing office and they are taking longer. ??

Anyone have any information on this and should I be panicking? I anticipated being home in April having submitted March 22nd and here I sit May 21st without even an appt. scheduled.

I thank you.

Thanks for your reply.

As I said in my first posting, I have already submitted a formal request because I haven't rec'd my biometrics appt. and that formal letter is to take up to 45 days which I think is crazy.

And the reason why I thought I could be home in April is because I noticed that several ppl. were receiving their biometrics appt. within 15 days of applying. So given the timeline, it could have been possible to be home by then.

Wrong. My biometrics were done beginning of October and I received AP/EAD in December. They have almost nothing to do with each other, I don't understand where this time line thing comes from. Biometrics doesn't mean immediate AP/EAD, far from that. AP/EAD = more or less 90 days. I haven't seen anyone get it in less than a month. Perhaps it has happened, who knows, but it's VERY rare, of that I can assure you.

I have never seen an Ap approved in 15 days! Ever!! not to mention the week that it takes it to get mailed to you! I have seen one that was like 40 days and that was amazing.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but expecting something completely unrealistic is just going to cause you pain, like it is now. If you had asked anyone when you filed, no one would have said that is was even remotely possible for the AP to be approved in 15 days!

The timeframe is 90 days. To expect it sooner than that is just going to lead to disappointment and stress.

Like I said, it can be approved without biometrics, but expect to wait another month. You'll probably get your biometrics within that time anyway.

While I appreciate your guidance I DON'T appreciate either of your attitudes. There is a polite way of responding to people. Never once did I say that I was going to receive my advanced parole in 15 days. I'm not stupid. I was saying that it was POSSIBLE to receive a biometrics appt. in 15 days as I have noted from many peoples timelines. And from there, I was assuming that the processing time would be faster.

I came to VJ to get some positive feedback and I regret having posted in the first place with people who berate me.

I actually tried extra hard to be nice because I know you are stressed out. So if you think that is still mean, I'm sorry.

The fact is a lot of people have unrealistic expectations and it makes me sad. What a waste, so many negative feelings, all preventable.

Ap takes 90 days, no matter when your bio appointment it. Early walk-in biometrics doesn't even speed it up.

I do not understand how you post a question, people answer it with facts, and you deem that to be berating you. The facts are the facts. Just because you do not like the answer, does not make someone mean or berating you.

AP doesn't need biometrics, but the I-485 and I-765 do. The biometrics letter is not received within 15 days by everyone. How fast you get a biometrics appointment would be based on your local USCIS office and how busy they are. They typically produce EAD/AP combo cards now, if you also applied for an EAD. You would not receive this until after your biometrics. The timeframe for receiving EAD/AP is 2-3 months from the date of filing. If you have not received it within 90 days, then call or set up an infopass appointment.

You can look at how fast others had biometrics and then received their EAD/AP and get perhaps a general idea of when you might receive yours. it would be best to look at the times of those that went through the same local USCIS office for their biometrics, but you still could know for sure how fast yours would go. Always hope for the best but plan for the worst.

You are in USA now. I think it exceptionally frivolous to 'think' to go 'home' when you were supposed to create a new home here in USA.

re: AP - 90 days, it is !!!

re: service request - just because you have one in play, means nothing, really.

Instead, you should be asking for the Biometrics Appointment Letter on each and every call.

Don't start a service request/referral, simply ask for the Biometrics Appointment Letter to be generated and sent out to you.

That's it !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I also in no way wanted to come across as rude. I'm sorry you took these facts to heart, but that's just the reality. There's going to be a lot of waiting around and uncertainty with this whole AOS process. FACT. Don't expect, and if you ask questions, welcome answers with an open heart.

Perhaps your initial post wasn't clear? Fact is, you expected to have your AP in a month or less. Fact is, that's unrealistic. Fact is, not everyone gets their biometric appointment letter within 15 days. Bottom line.

Sorry you weren't able to go back to Canada when you wanted to; I filed for AOS in September and was stressed for the holiday season. I got my AP a couple of weeks before Christmas and was thrilled. Now I'm hoping to have my GC before mid-July, which is when I'm visiting again. As Harpa stated, I know how stressful it is and can be, but for your own sanity, don't take replies so negatively.
