During contentious debate over the Farm Bill, which funds food stamps, in the House Agriculture Committee, Rep. Juan Vargas, D-Calif., invoked the Book of Matthew as he noted his opposition to the cuts.

Republican Congressman Stephen Fincher of Tennessee, who supports cuts to the program, had his own Bible verse from the Book of Thessalonians to quote back to Vargas: The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat, he said.

I realize Washington D.C. is on the east coast (good catch, btw!) but in its role as the seat of our federal government, it's really no more an east coast city than it is a west coast city. Your state gets 2 senators there just like mine does. Your state gets a number of congressional seats in proportion to national population just like mine does.

I realize Washington D.C. is on the east coast (good catch, btw!) but in its role as the seat of our federal government, it's really no more an east coast city than it is a west coast city. You forgot the working poor - those not only willing to work but actally working. They make up about a third of the SNAP beneficiaries. Republicans have simply divorced themselves from reality. That's all that is.

In their utopian society it would be more like the film "Soylent Green" where they feed the dead back to the living.

A fictional novel written by an author who actually treated herself to the spoils of socialism in her later days. And they take that work of fiction by an author that couldn't live up to it as gospel. That's how mentally retarded they are.
