If your going to be around the Hanoi area during X-Mas or Nha Trang maybe I can buy you a drink. I am going there Dec 10th until the 30th. We will have a NON-paperwork wedding in Hanoi 17th, and then the 19th go the Nha Trang for our honeymoon.

hehhe, sure i will go for that drink. I will be in HCMC from the Dec 1 till the 26. Well, if you go to Nha Trang, try to stay at Vin Pearl (Hon Ngoc Viet) little pricey but you will get a great 5 Star treatment.

That's where I am now, Nha Trang. Beautiful here.

How is the weather there? pretty hot right? or rain? I remember when I was there in August, It was hot and got no wind blow at all, especially at night. It's little bit hotter than in Saigon. Nha Trang looks similar to Hawaii. :)

Here is the email i got from HCMC Consulate today. I've looked around and conclude Package should be sent by now.

---------------

Dear Mr. Vo,

Thank you for your inquiry. Please be informed that we received the electronic file for your fiancée on November 7. It usually takes one week for us to receive the physical file. However, it takes approximately 8 weeks for us to process the case and update the information in our system due to the large volume of visa petitions we receive monthly. We will send an Instruction Package (packet 3) to your fiancée at the earliest opportunity.

Please do not delete your original inquiry with all correspondence if you have further inquiries.

Sincerely,

Huan,

You can always have em go to the consulate and just pickup the packet 3. The packet is not specific to any person. There are only generic forms there to fill out.

Then you have her fill it out and once you get notification that they have sent (or will send) the packet 3...just have her mail what she has.

Lurker,

Thank you that's a great tip. My "em" is in a really remote part of the country close to Ca Mau. I'll get her brother-in-law to pick up and send it down for her.

Usually they will tell you to wait 4 weeks after the packet 3 has been sent before they will allow you to pickup a replacement packet 3 in person at the US Consulate in HCMC.

However, this could have changed. I'd give it a shot and see if you are successful in receiving one, or at least call them to find out.

We got our packet a week and a half after HCM received our papers...I really think it all just depends on something. I just see some people going faster than others, there has to be a reason, any ideas? Oh, CK&Tydi, yeah, it's pretty hot and sunny. It should be the rainy season now, but because of good 'ol el nino, its pretty dry. Though, the wind is always there and refreshing...

It is really hot in Saigon right now.... I hated it but oh well, as long i be back there with my love one then it should not be a problem heh. Man, i just hope i will see the package 3 when i am in Vietnam. Did your fiance got her Police Certification done already? I try to tell my fiance to get it done but she still does not want to get it done until the package arrive.. She wants to use a lawyer to do all the paper work. She said it will be a hectic to get that thing done. Is it right?

Dear Mr. Vo,

Please ignore our previous response. We just sent your fiancée an Instruction Package (Packet 3) on November 28. The packet was sent to the following address: ***. Your fiancée is requested to return the completed DS-230 Part I to us as soon as possible. We cannot schedule your fiancee for a visa interview until we receive this form. If your fiancée has not yet received the packet one month of the mailing date, she can come to our office to pick-up a packet in-person or contact us to request that we mail another packet. Your fiancée's case may be terminated if she fails to pursue the application within one year of the date the initial Instruction Package was sent.

Please do not delete your original inquiry with all correspondence if you have further inquiries.
