Medical Exam how far advance

How far in advance did some of you do your medical exam? I know the government website says the results are valid up to a year in normal conditions, but says to wait for the interview to be scheduled before setting up exam. I have read about people having to wait extra time due to sputum culture, and wished they had done it early. So my next question would be how early can you do it, is there a specific case number we are waiting for (that the NVC issues)?

You need to wait for the embassy number to be assigned to your case, which comes out of NVC. The results are placed in a sealed envelope with the case number listed on the report. So you really need to wait for that number which generally comes shortly after the NVC approves the file.

We did ours months before we got our NOA-2. It was no problem to do it then (january 2011). I was there so I could help with the kids. The bureaucracy was crazy, I could not believe how patient everyone was with the process. We were told by those who did not necessarily know that we could not do it early. The embassy assured us it was OK. E-mail them and ask if it is still OK.
