I amsure this has been answered many of times.

I sent my packet to the lockbox. I than received a email a few days later saying it was accepted and it was sent off to the next stage. I called the NVC several weeks later like a guideline tells me to do but they said that there was no info on me yet. They said an email will be sent to me when it is done.

It's going on about 2 months now and I still don't have a case number. Is this normal? How long does it take to get the case number? All I have right now is a receipt number.

I think you may missunderstand the process- if you send your file to the lockbox and a few days later get an email, that is NOA1- that means USCIS is working on your case. NVC won;t get your case till several (5-6) months later.

This is why having your timeline would be so helpful to us.

You are calling NVC when you are at USCIS. Don't know what guideline would tell you that.

Sending your petition off 2 months ago you still have some waiting to do.

From lockbox to NBC (receipt# I bet starts with MSC) than from there it went to your local USCIS. There it will sit until its adjudicated.

From there if approved you are sent to NVC where in a few weeks you are assigned case#.

I hope that helps. You still have some months of waiting.
