how much time until interview & any advise Algeria

Hi,

I called today and got my NVC number and was told my K1 was sent to the Embassy in Algiers on May 14. I am wondering what has been the experience of others, how long does it take to get an interview in Algiers, do they tell him when the interview is or does he have to make the appointment ? What kind of questions do they ask? Any advise? I appreciate you reading this, and any and all responses. Thank you

Hi. You can do a timeline search on this site and get a basic idea of what the wait has been like for others. It looks like the average time from NOA2 to interview in Algeria is 98 days.

My husband scheduled his interview date himself, but that was years ago, I'm not sure how it's done now. As far as the questions they ask...it all depends on your case. They ask case specific questions, along with the basics : How/where did you meet? How long have you known eachother? etc...You could try reading the reviews other members have posted, there might be some more info there. Good luck!

Hello, Things at the Algiers Embassy has changed a lot since 2011. Before 2011 you could file for DCF and the process was a lot easy then. They still ask about the relationship and want hundred and one peices of evidence. Algeria hasn't been blacklisted like Egypt or Morroco as a "fraud country" but nevertheless my sure the officers are more cautious with more Algerians seeking out English speaking (American and British) partners ... opposed to in the past French.

I teach English here and I can say with confidence least 2 of 15 students in my classes are learning English just for martial immigration reasons. While, I can't help with specifics in filing (since it's been yrs since we filed) I am more than happy to aid with Algerian-American cultural issues. Good luck!

when the nvc forwards your petition to the embassy you will receive an email at which point you have to email the us embassy in algiers, the do not take appt. by phone and wait for them to respond , they will give you the earliest possible date. Usually (average) 2 weeks from NVC to embassy and about 2-3 weeks for an appointment date. The counselors at the embassy are very nice ppl. Good luck to you.

Thank you everyone for the information. I know his petition is at the embassy...NVC sent it 3 days after it arrived there, it has been at the embassy since 5-23. Does anyone know if I the petitioner get get the email, or does he as the beneficiary get the email? So far neither of us has received anything. Also, I understand they want a lot of evidence, we have pictures (a lot with me and his mom, and sister, grandma etc) emails, skype chat, will they look at those at the interview, or has their mind already been made up from what is in the packet?
