My fiance was just approved today, but her layover at JFK is only 2.5 hours.

Any advice on how to speed that up? I read one review that said there was a separate line for people with layovers of 2 hours or less.

She doesn't speak much English and won't have a cell phone (I'm trying to think of a way around that...maybe send her a prepaid SIM card for her unlocked iPhone 4)...

I'm just worried that she will have to wait a long time and will miss her flight, and I won't be able to help her because she'll be out of communication.

Any tips on speeding this up? Going to the US citizen line which is shorter and saying "Oops! I didn't know!" when she got up there? haha. No, but really...

I went through JFK (on a B1 visa last November December 2012). The line took maybe half an hour. But if I remember right, they had a special line for those who have connecting flights with short layovers (mine was 5 hours so I had enough time). I don't know if that's usual or it was only during that time.

JFK has a very efficient immigration portion and 2.5 hours should be well enough time for her to get through and get to her next gate. Safe travels!

I am the USC/petitioner.

Our K-1 Journey
12/19/2012 - Mailed I-129F via USPS Express
12/21/2012 - I-129F arrives in Lewisville, TX according to USPS tracking (delayed because it's the USPS)

12/27/2012 - Checked cashed by USCIS

Hey guys, one more question (as of now haha):

What is the process as far as baggage etc.? A normal US citizen coming from out of the country and with a connecting flight has to go through the line get the passport checked, go and pick up their baggage, go through security and customs, and then drop off their baggage with the people working for the airline you're traveling with. Basically in the order, it's been a half a year since I came from out of the country and had a connecting flight. Correct me if I'm wrong.

But for those coming in on the K-1, with their extra part in the process being going to the interview rooms, how does this work? What is the order of things? I'm just trying to explain to my fiancee, who doesn't speak much english so that she'll be the least lost as possible beforehand.

Thanks to all!
