Is this doctor ripping me off?

The doctor makes me return for my blood test results and interpretation of Xray on friday.

He charged €37 now, the fee listed by the consulate on the "consultation" item, and told me he will charge me a regular doctor visit of €20 friday.

But that means the consultation fee amounts to €57 instead of €37.

On the health insurance he marked only €20 today.

I would have no problem paying for two consultations of €20 each, but why charge €37 for the first when he writes €20 on the receipt?

How can I find out if he's ripping me off and if I have to pay for another consultation.

All he did was take my blood and write a note to request an Xray ... thats not worth €37 in my opinion.

I would ask him why he is charging you more than you are required to pay. Seems strange that he marked he was only charging you 20 when he was actually charging you more, perhaps he is putting the extra in his pocket.

Did he give you a receipt today for the amount you paid? If so then on Friday when you go back point out that you were only charged 20 but paid more so they owe you a credit for the difference.

I concur. Medicals in China are US$ 130. Don't risk getting botched results over a small pay dispute.

After you get the medical results, it may be benefitial to report this doctor. Maybe someone will investigate.

From the UK, 37 euros sounds pretty good. Here, the medical examination must be conducted by one of two medical practices, each charging 160 pounds. That's an eye-watering 236 euros or 310 US dollars per person!

August 2004: we meet

June 2005: engaged!

March 2006: I-129F submitted ...

... May: case recalled for IMBRA compliance ...

... August: NVC sends case file to Mexico (WRONG COUNTRY!!) ...

... October: London refuses to process I-824 ...

... January 2007: interview - visa approved!

January 17: entry into US

January 26: married! woo-hoo! together forever!

January 29: submitted I-485, I-765, I-131

February 2: NOAs for I-485, I-765, I-131

February 7: SS number

February 20: I-485 transferred to California SC

February 21: biometrics for I-485, I-765

February 23: NOA for I-485: FBI can't process fingerprints; new biometrics appointment

March 10: biometrics#2 for I-485

March 14: NOA for I-485: FBI can't process fingerprints; new biometrics appointment
