Good Evening everyone,

I am LPR and will be citizen on March 2013.

I just filed I-130 for my wife who is in another country.

I received a text on May 15th saying that they received the documents and an Official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) will come in mail.

I received and email on May 15th stating my case has been accepted and routed to USCIS California service Center for processing.

Can you please tell me what is next?

What documents are to follow? Just a run down of all the procedure will be greatly appreciated.

This is what I have sent along with my I-130. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

1. I-130 Petition for Alien Relative and Check for filing

2. G-325 A (me)

3. G-325 A (wife)

4. G-1145 Form

5. Marriage Certificate

6. Copy of Green Card (me)

7. Birth certificate of wife

8. Copy of passport of wife

9. Relationship certificate of wife

So next will be approval from USCIS. They will screen your documents and make a decision if approve or not or need more documents.

In a way, how long your I-130 petition spends in processing doesnt matter. As soon as the petition is received by USCIS, you have established your spouse's place in line (known as his or her Priority Date). And no matter when the petition is approved, your spouse will have to wait an average of 2.5 years from that Priority Date until a visa becomes available in the category of spouses of U.S. permanent residents (F2A). Only when that Priority Date is current can he or she take the next step in the process, and apply for a U.S. green card.

Did you submit 2x2 photos?

Photos. You and your spouse must each submit a color passport-style photo, 2 × 2 inches in size, taken within the past six months.

Thank you for the response. Yes, I did submit the photos. two of each.

Can this 2.5 years be shorted if I become a citizen? I will become a citizen on March 2013.

If you become USC, waiting period will be shortened as your wife no longer needs to wait for a visa number. Once approved by USCIS, everything will be fast. :-)

Thank you so much. You just made my day. Just two more questions. What is the time frame for her to come to USA when I become a US citizen in march 13? Also what do I have to do in order to convert her paperwork from LPR to USC after I become a citizen on 2013?

Do u mean March 2014?

Once you become USC, just send a copy of your proof of naturalization to the office where your petition is currently located (USCIS or NVC).
