I need advice for first time entry in USA

The question is when my hubby arrive for first time to USA when can we get him a Social Security number? remember we been approved with our I-130 petition , visa was granted now planing to come soon...any advice on how long to get these SS#? Thanks for all advice Allah (swt) w/all of you

When he gets here on a CR-1 you can go to the local Social Security office and order one if you did not choose to have one automatically generated when applying for the visa. He will need his passport which will include the necessary visa and proof of identity.

give it some time to get in the system like two or three weeks or you will be making extra trips to the social security office.

We waited 3 weeks and hubby's info was still not available in the system. We ticked to box on the visa app and still went to the ss office at 3 weeks. All in all it took 8 weeks for his card to arrive, due to the fact his info was slow at getting put in the system.
