I hear you! We did the same thing , so close ! but yet so far! or at least it seems that way. You guys have made it this far youll make it another week or so . Im sure you will hear any day , Its about a month from the time they get all your info , I would go by the last date of when you either paid your visa fee , sent in the papers of readiness or the medical , whichever date was your last. They will not schedule your interview until they have all of this , it only takes a few days for your medical records to get to them. So on average atm its taken about a month to get an interview give or take by 2 weeks. If you go over 6 weeks call them.

Hey,

Maybe a bit off topic but how do you know when to pay the fee. I thought the details of how to pay the fee were released in the interview scheduling letter, and that you paid when you got the interview date through. However you say here you have to pay the fee as one of the conditions before the scheduling? Is this true? Never seen this mentioned before...

They say they will give the instructions but they didn't update their form letter when they switched over to paying in advance. (We used to pay at the embassy.) Call that embassy helpline to pay. They email a receipt. Pay anytime before the interview.

Paying is NOT a condition to getting an interview, nor does it help you get one faster. Positive.

Here's the only reference http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/iv_fees.html

K Visa Applicants pay the fee to the Operator Assisted Information Service prior to attending the visa interview. Instructions concerning payment will be sent to you with the appointment letter.

Hey Zoe,

I received instructions on how to pay the MRV Fee when I received the NOA2 Letter from the Embassy in London. They basically said everyone has to pay a fee before their interview and here's the number to call to pay it etc. Once I paid, they emailed me a receipt which I then printed out and put in my folder along with all my records and forms and everything else.

I think the visa process is different for everyone, like I've read that the Embassy send you a packet of forms to fill out (the DS Forms), but when I got my letter it was just instructions on which forms I needed to fill out and they gave me a link to the website where I could download them and print them out myself.

I don't even have an interview date yet but I've gotten everything done in advance so that I'm totally ready for the interview when they do issue me a date- I just like to make sure I have everything done ahead of time to save me worrying about it later! biggrin.png

London hasn't mailed out a "packet" in about 4 years. Some consulates may still do that but each consulate has their own procedure for gathering forms, documents, and giving interviews.

(more about "packet 3" in the K1 London thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/?p=5137390 )

(copy of the instruction letter here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/?p=5180175 )

They say on their website--

"Instructions concerning payment will be sent to you with the appointment letter. "

They don't repeat the instructions in the appointment letter.

A copy of the appointment letter is in the K1 London thread way down at the end of this post http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/?p=5193825

No, I don't think you paid too early. As long as you have a receipt to show at the interview, then you are ok. So pay early or pay after interview letter is received--either way is fine and one is not better than the other.

Hey Guys,

I sent off my DS Forms package along with the notice of readiness on the 15th April.

Had my medical on 18th April.

I called the Embassy on the 2nd May to check that they had everything. They said my forms are currently being processed and it should take around 6 weeks from the date they received the forms. 6 weeks? Seriously? I've read that it usually only takes 4. I guess this is just me being impatient and such but it's been almost 5 weeks now.

What have the waiting times been like for others?

(I'm filing with the Embassy in London so really I'm looking to hear back from other people who are filing at the same place.)

Anyone else waiting for their interview date too?

All this waiting is driving me crazy tongue_ss.gifblink.png

Oh my goodness I had no idea it was going to take that long....I had my medical on May 10th and thought I would hear about interview this week! Personally I think the worst thing about this whole process is that you have no idea when anything will happen...NOA2...interview...it's impossible to make any plans. London is a looooong way from me....I was certainly hoping to have a bit more notice so I can prepare.

I hope you have heard since you posted this, I'm also a September filer so I feel your pain! Please please please write back when you get your interview date! It would be so great to have an example to look at!

Oh awesome you've got a really similar timeline to me then! Yes it is painful beyond expression! And yep- can't make any plans, just trying very hard not to go insane!! I still haven't heard, sadly but I'm really hoping to hear by the end of next week cause its been a month now grr dead.gif

I think the best thing to do is just gather as much evidence as you can to prepare for the interview. I'm still waiting on my fiance to send me his bank and tax stuff so I'm kinda lucky I haven't got a date yet otherwise I'd be screwed if I showed up to the interview without that stuff! (Really I shouldn't have sent the form saying I'm ready if I didn't have that stuff with me but I figured it was going to take a long time anyway and didn't want to drag this out any longer!!)

This also gives me time to clear up my stuff here too.. Putting together bags off stuff to take to charity shops so my family doesn't have to clear up all my stuff after I'm gone- (IF I'm gone, but I don't really want to think about getting denied right now, really don't know how I'd cope if that happenedblink.png )

This WILL work!

And it WILL work for you too! I will definitely keep you updated on my case and let you know when I hear. Could you do the same for me? It's really helpful that you're a September filer too so I'd love to hear how things are moving for you too!

Oh congrats!! :) Looks like your waiting is almost over...

Although this is worrying to me, as your wait time from medical to interview is over 2 months - I just checked everyone form the last few months at London and it seems this is quite an increase. I was guessing on 1 month wait from embassy to letter, 2 weeks to interview. :( My medical is booked for the 4th June and I was hoping to get married on the 24th August.

Anyone know if there is usually a slow down as we head towards summer?

Oh well just keep waiting I guess!

Congrats I'm glad you heard :) and thanks for letting me know! I agree with the above comment however, this is alot longer than I was planning to wait. I was supposed to be getting married on June 20th and thought I might still pull that off until you just told me this! Nothing to be done except keep waiting and getting ready I suppose. You definitely did mean 24th of June and not may right?? (Wishful thinking!)

I know what you mean. It feels like it's been forever whereas for other people its been pretty quick. Maybe it does slow down around Summer. I had a little trouble with my medical because of an incident that happened in the past, so she needed my doctor to send her my medical record to check that the problem didn't still exist. So it took a bit longer for them to send my medical results seeing as they had to wait a couple days after I had it to check everything through. But really the best thing to do is try not to focus so hard on waiting. - I mean I can't really talk cause I've driven myself insane with waiting endlessly and getting worked up about it but if any of you have more strength than me, you'll occupy yourselves with something to take your mind off the waiting haha! biggrin.png

At the end of the day, these guys are just doing their job and trying to get through everyone's cases as quickly as possible so you really can't complain. In the end everything will work out yes.gif All that matters to me is that eventually I'll be with my fiance and we can be happy together happy.png

Hang in there you guys and everyone else that is missing their loved one, we're all in the same boat on this website and can pull through together! smile.png

You're welcome!

Yeah I know its depressing when you realise that you actually have to wait a lot longer than you expected. We got our NOA2 on March 8th so I was really hoping to be leaving this month. Try not to let it upset you too much. Things can be really tough on you as a couple when you go through this process.. trust me, I've had plenty of arguments with my fiance recently because stress levels are just through the roof, but you just have to hold onto the knowledge that one day you'll be together and you'll look back on this and be proud of what you went through together just to be able to see each other like normal humans do instead of talking over a computer! tongue.png

Stay strong and don't lose hope :)

(And yeah the interview is definitely 24th June. Still 1 more month to wait ugh laughing.gif )

At least now I know when to plan for.. makes things a bit easier!
