Newt Gingrich Has Never Heard of a Smartphone

To call this a "cell phone" or a "handheld computer" fails to capture the change that has taken place. It is a change in kind, not just a change in scale, and just as drivers of the earliest cars called them "horseless carriages", our language has not caught up.

So having failed for several days to come up with an adequate term for the device we call a "cell phone," we want to open the discussion up to you. Let us know in the comments what you think we should name it, and we'll feature the best ones in a future newsletter.

I am so happy Newt is retired.

No Smartphone for Grandpa - he needs a JitterBug !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Newt's never heard of monogamy either. :)

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

People who say they don't have cellphones are lying, just like people who say they don't have Facebook.

nope. i've got fb. but no cellphone. i had a pager in the nineties, i know what this is all about.

I knew old people in the 90s who said anyone who had a pager was a drug dealer.

i'm just putting off having an extra bill to pay every month.

Thank god he hasn't heard of a smart phone. I don't want to see photos of his junk like another former member of congress.

Technically I have a cell-phone. It's a 5 year old slider that I have a pre-paid plan for. Most of the time it isn't charged. My wife has an Iphone 4S (which isn't that new either, anymore, come to think of it) and that's enough for the both of us. I do have facebook, though.

I'm really puzzled. To call this man a "politician" or a "wise leader" fails to capture the essence of this fool. Could we call him a "horse's a$$"? He has clearly not kept up with the times though one can question if he was ever really 'with it'. So we would really like to open this up. What do you feel he should be called? Let us know and, who knows, maybe the best ones can go in his very own 'news'letter!rofl.gif

His base isn't big on actually knowing anything of substance...its more of a salesmanship job.

This guy went after president Clinton and wanted to impeach him for having an affair; this was while he himself was having an affair...and they still love him? How he's still relevant in any way is comical.

He's wise...wiser than his constituents that kept voting for him.

He's all all about "Family Values"...yeah right, he's a joke.
