Hey guys,

I'm going to be flying over to the USA in about two weeks and I'm panicking a bit because I think I've been reading way too many bad experiences online.

I'm gonna be visiting my boyfriend for a month (June 1 - July 2) and my previous visits to the US are as follows:

November 21 - November 25 (5 days)

December 25 - January 6 (12 days)

February 16 - February 26 (10 days)

So, it's gonna's be slightly over 3 months since my last visit once I land in the US. I'm taking proof of ties back home, as I usually do, which include: rountrip ticket, traveling and health insurance which ends on the day I fly back home, cash (1000 USD this time), bank statement showing extra funds, credit card statement, pay stubs, work contract and proof I own a house.

I don't plan on mentioning a boyfriend unless I'm specifically asked about it. I've never had any issues with the officers in any of my previous visits - always got in after being asked the usual questions.

My issue is, since it's a month-long visit they may be a bit funny about it.

Another point to add is that my boyfriend is doing a 100 mile race at the end of June just before I leave, and one of the main reasons I'm going over is to help him train and then crew for him at the actual race.

I feel like I'm doing as much as possible when it comes to show proof of ties back home, but I don't know how bad my pattern of previous visits is. I guess I'm just looking for reasurance, even though nobody can say at will happen at the border.

So my question is, should I mention my reason for traveling to the US is not only a vacation but also to help a friend train for that race and crew for himjust before I leave or should I just stick with the generic vacation answer?

Thank you!

F.

Your reason for coming to the US is not so important. In fact, you want to make sure that they don't misconstrue "helping train" as illegal work. I would keep it to vacation, and moral support, and of course answer anything they ask directly. I think you will be fine - you have a history of using the VWP correctly.

Yes, the illegal work issue came to my mind too. And even though this is obviously not the case, they could definitely make that an issue. So maybe refrain from mentioning the race and stick to the generic answer?

Well you're not really helping train, are you? Are you a professional trainer? Aren't you there more for moral support?

Well, I do run with him and I will crew for him at the race, so that wouldn't be a lie. It would just be a way of justifying the month-long visit, but I guess I may be overthinking it.

Thank you.
