Hi,

So I filed directly from the US embassy in Amman, Jordan because I was living there long enough to be considered a resident. Our interview was February 6th 2013 and we were actually told that everything was approved and just needed to send the passport after he sent in his police background check. BUT like an hour later we got a phone call and somehow we needed to go through administrative processing. It's been a little over 3 months now and I'm just wondering how long most of you have waited for AP. I'm desperately wanting to go back to the states with my husband by the summer time. I've emailed the embassy and they are no help, just saying all we can do is wait. So I'm just hoping there are others out there who have not had to wait over 5 months time (and from Jordan if possible) just to ease my nerves :)

Thanks you all!

~Tiffany

AP is something with indefinite time period. It varies from Embassy to Embassy and country to country. NO one can predict the time it will take for them to end AP. Unfortunately, I call it the black hole the limbo stage. Keep praying that it would be over soon. In Sha'Allah it will.

Thanks you guys! I know it's a unsure process but I haven't heard too many 'horror' stories from Amman so looks like we will keep on praying for a quick response and won't give up hope yet. Thankfully we are together during this time so I cannot complain too much, just want to get started with our plans in the US and see my family :)

At least you are with your loved one and if on AP it doesn't matter if it takes a little longer. Keep a positive outlook and maybe it will be over before you know it. Good luck and best wishes in your VJ.

Hello- just wanted to throw in my experience with the AP hell hole. It's been 1 year and 5 months for my husband's application so far. I've chatted and read experiences of many others and the common theme is generally a long time in AP with applicants of middle eastern background. To make matters more complex, my husband has lived out of his citizen country for 12 years so he has an even longer background check.

OP, I was just wondering since its been a few months from your initial post, has your hubby's AP cleared?

Tiffany,

I'm wondering how long did it take you to get to the interview after you filed? I will be filing for my wife in couple months. Also what's the residency requirements to be able to file directly at the consulate?

Thanks,
