My fiancé Daniel and I are both currently living in Canada. He is on an intra company transfer, so we live in a leased home here in Canada for the past 2 years. Prior to that, we were both living in Japan for 2 years. Daniel is a USC and does not have a current residence in the States. In the DS 156 form, it is required I state the address I will be living in the States. We do not yet have an address in the States as we are now living in Canada and will only find a home in the States upon receiving the K1 visa approval. Basically, when we get our visa approved, Daniel will be repatriating back to the States. His company will put us up in a hotel for 30 days while we look for a place to live. Only then will we have a residence address. What should we put into the form for now? For mailing purposes, we are using my best friend's home address in the States. but for the address we will be living in, what do I put in? We understand that for most couples, the USC usually has a residence in the States, Has anyone been in our position where we are both living overseas?

Please help!

are we required to provide proof of this, like a lease agreement, utility bill etc? What is the purpose of this address? is it to prove I will not be a public charge or is it simply for mailing purposes? Because, I would think if it is to prove i will not be a public charge, or be homeless in the States, we would need to prove his name on some property, be it lease or ownership? Or am i overcomplicating this more than it actually is?
