Oh sorry, I can't seem to edit my posts, but I just thought of yet another thing..

You mentioned above how common name hits and the difficulty of transliterating Arabic into English letters can cause holdups... well, I will ask my fiancé for his opinion too, but would anyone think that perhaps since he is a Christian and comes from a family of Christians that perhaps there would be less chance of name similarity?

Like in the U.S., my first and last names are not terribly common compared to something like John Smith.. since he's not a Mohammed or Ahmed or something, but has Christian names, could that help? I just mean since they are the significant minority over there.

The list of names above were broken up by gender, but I wonder what would happen if you broke them up by the Muslim, secular, or Christian names...

Since he is Christian he will probably get his visa in 2 weeks or so. But do not bank on it with the turmoil between USA and middle east right now.

But it has been noted in the past that Christian men got their visa pretty quick with a short AP/

Most men from Egypt have 2 months AP but lately there have been some waiting for many months

Good Luck

I know the VJ member who was a female (not Muslim) got her visa 2 weeks after her interview the day after mine. I think religion and gender have something to do with it for sure. I really have a hard time thinking its just name checks though. My husband has been frequenting and even living in the US off and on his whole life and we're still stuck in this AP nightmare. It shouldn't be hard to track his records.

You are so right. If you look at this site and many others you will see that if the name isnt muslim or isnt male that AP usually isnt a factor, however, males, muslim.....its really discrimination.....and

I found a memo from the USCIS that says that the AP is supposed ot be used sparangly and that the Immigration process including AP doesnt discriminate against race religion or national origin.......HA.....

While i understand the state of the world these days.....it really does seem to me like the above statements are being ignored by the consular officers and its really sad for all of us.

Prayers for speedy AP

I've lost count of months now... quit checking the site every day too. In fact... didn't check it for a week or two at a time anymore.

Checked it today out of sheer boredom... "Update July 24" AP courtesy of CEAC

Surprise!!!

My husband is beginning to resemble a bush as he swore not to cut his hair from the day of the interview until the visa. He will look like a girl I think by the time he gets here. >.<

Thats kinda quite funny! Muslims are not terrorists, The lies of the US government to their own citizen has been exposed long time ago, Thanks GOD there are smart American people that had to figure that out.

It's not discriminatory at all and has nothing to do with your made-up demographics:

Jamaica

Bangladesh

Philippines

China

Chile

Liberia

India

Kenya

Everyone who asks to cross the border into the U.S. experiences AP, which is simply background checks. People from first world countries where records are digitized and more readily accessible tend not to notice it as much. However, less developed/digitized governments tend to take longer because the U.S. government depends on the local government to do the digging. This poses a particular challenge in countries that have had court houses and police stations burnt and records destroyed, or where government employees will never get their "big chance" to immigrate to the U.S. so they have no motivation.

All anyone can do is be patient.
