my usc (naturalized) wifes, son is visting the USA now, under a valid vistors visa, with a current I94 (6mo, 5 to go)

he was visiting colleges here, and got interested (he has BSBA in his country)
he wants to take and intensive ESL class here, immediately. (the kind that uses levels (good)

Then go on to post grad school or as needed to do that... a plan....MBA
he does not want to go "out of status". so will act now...

question.
can he apply for F1 student visa, (not leaving usa) with only and ESL class, registration , application?

and acceptance? ways, means , pitfall?
or not at all.? or?

Yes, im will aware that many come here and do not leave , illegally, he is not like that.

He did not tell officer his "perspective student" reason, due to ignance on all our parts!
and due to not sure he wanted to go to school here. But does now.

thanks for any help or direction.

hello and thanks

6months, 5 to go. on tourist visa.

there is a such thing as an accredited ESL program?. my wife has been in ESL classes at the JC, for 2-1/2 years.

We went to the Unversaty here, and they said, no ESL here. @ Univ. of Texas. they said go to JC.

So, no way to come here and do ESL. at all?

thanks again.

There is, but there needs to be an accredited, recognized by USCIS, SEVP program in order to be granted an F-1 student visa.

Have you researched the F-1 requirements?

Does he have an under grad degree already? WHat is preventing him from learning English in his home country then applying to universities in the US?

good luck

I would have thought most Uni's do MBA's, if he has the money for it.

He can do a language course while he is here on his B2.

If he really just wants to take the ESL class at community college he can do that as tourist, he does not need F1.

Also most arguments would be he can do the English classes for much cheaper in the home country compared to one in US.
