Hmm, from what I thought I knew, it was visa- free for a period of up to 30 or 60 days, and then one had to pay. But i am not an expert on this one.

Yes, it's visa-free for some time, but I've not been there longer. Only been there 3 times so far with about a week each time without any problems. They're also extremely particular as to how they put their entry-exit stamps for some reason. Always on the same page, starting from the top, entry stamp to the right, exit stamp on the left. Not like they do it here at JFK where they just stamp wherever they happen to open in whatever random orientation anywhere on the page.

1/16/13 - Alien Registration Number changed
5/24/13 or 5/29/13 - Case Transferred to TSC
7/2/13 - NOA2 from TSC! (173 days from NOA1) | 7/6/13 - Hard Copy Received
7/18/13 - Shipped to NVC | 7/26/13 - Received at NVC and case number assigned
7/29/13 - In transit to consulate | 7/31/13 - Received by consulate
8/20/13 - Medical - Passed | 8/21/13 - Interview - Approved!
8/28/13 - Passport with visa ready to pickup from courier

If you are moving to the USA you are supposed to surrender your internal passport. My wife surrendered hers and was given a special stamp in her international passpaort.

The K1 is not an immigrant visa though. What happens if you don't get married and have to move back? Do you then apply to have your internal passport restored?

The concept of not being allowed to take the passport outside of Ukraine sounds a little confusing to me. Looking at it from my side (the Russian one): we're allowed to come to Ukraine just using the internal Russian passport, of course it doesn't get stamped then at the border. I thought it'd be the same vice versa and this would mean taking it out of the country.

Anyway, i travel with both passports in the majority of cases and i'd definitely take it there then so if i needed it noone'd have to mail it to me.

I'm the beneficiary.
