Congrats!!! What a great news.

I received green card almost a month ago but the information on the card was incorrect so I had to send it back. Still don't know when will get it. Hopefully soon.

Here's my journey...............

AOS INTERVIEW – F4 CATEGORY – FILING BY BROTHER (APPLICANTS LIVE IN USA)

My brother-in-law was the petitioner who filed for my husband who in turn added me as spouse. Our interview was scheduled for 10:45 am but we got there about an hour early. My husband and I were there with his brother (our petitioner) and our lawyer. Our lawyer informed us that the interviews were running behind schedule, we were finally called in about 1.5 hours after our scheduled time.

I had prepared with me the usual documents to prove we were husband and wife (we’ve been married for 25 years), for example insurance, property, albums etc. My husband had photos showing him and his brother in the same photos when they were young, burial program of their father, his and brother’s BCs showing same parents.

We had no sponsor, my husband was the sponsor because he had proof of 40 working quarters (10 years) and he was earning what was considered adequate. Our IO said that was the first time she had come across a self sponsor.

We were sworn in and asked the standard yes/no questions. The interview went perfectly. She did not take a look at any of the tons of stuff that I had taken along, and the albums that weighed a ton. She only asked for our BCs, marriage certificate, passports and checked originals against the documents that we had sent in earlier with our application. It was our lawyer who even reminded her to take a look at my brother in law’s citizenship certificate. She saw from my entry passport that I had visited the U.S a number of times before I decided to stay put. She asked whether I had ever overstayed on any of the previous visits, I said No. (That is an absolute No No, you cannot have overstayed on any of your prior visits!!!).

Our lawyer had told us that usually in Chicago, the IOs do not tell you whether you are approved or not and take offence sometimes if you ask. However because of the cordial atmosphere, she asked our IO if we would be able to travel to go and see our daughter soon in the UK and she said YES and confirmed that we are approved.

We got our green cards exactly 17 days later! Valid for 10 years.

And thus ends a 12 year journey for this green card. Started in April 2001!!!

Wishing all fellow applicants the very best of luck.

NB. There was a lot of praying and fasting pre-interview.

Today we received the potential interview waiver letter dated 10/16/13. Checked the website and it's still in acceptance. No e-mail or texts either. I guess we just wait for updates by mail now.

ya, because the emails and texts are unreliable. When we were at the K1 phase I only got a text when we got the NOA2. So I don't hold my breath for them anymore.

Indeed. Very similar dates for AOS. You'll probably get a waiver letter any day now. Is your case still in acceptance online also?

Yes still in acceptance. I saw that they recently updated the processing times for NYC on their website, claiming that on August 31st they were processing March 8th NOA1s for AOS, and I believe on July 31 they were processing Mid-January dates. If that is true and they are moving at a steady pace that should put our dates right about now in the processing window. Of course, I keep my expectations low.

I want to mention this info that I have and think would be useful to you guys.

1. When i was researching how much time it would take me to receive gc, i found that if case skips the interview it takes 7-8 months to go directly to approval and card in production stages. Reason could be they have a cooling off period, or internal background check is happening that time. I hoped minr goes to interview , interview made me anxious but gc was received much faster.

I am not an active user on this site but come down here once i while to pay it forward.

Good luck guys.

Is there anyone here that received and interview waiver that has been approved yet?

Received text and email on Saturday 11/23/13 @ 2:45pm saying Card production had been ordered! Almost done for 2 years!

We never received an interview waiver letter but we were approved without interview.

We submitted an e-request on 11/16/13 regarding long processing times. We received a reply letter on 11/20/13 saying that they could not provide a window for processing and that our case was still pending consideration.

No idea if the e-request was related to the approval time but we are happy about this result.

Have to say, it was very discouraging to see people getting interview-waived approvals within 3 months of applying for AOS simply because they lived in an area where the local office wasn't overloaded. Not the people's fault of course! Just don't understand how USCIS developed such an inefficient system. (cases should not be processed geographically, there should be a single queue for the whole country) We were in the NYC system - our e-request letter and biometrics appointment were at the Long Island City office. AOS took us nearly 7 months from mailing it in to the approval date. I'm aware many people have it worse, and I hope their approvals come soon.

Anyway, good luck to everyone still waiting! We'll post again when the card arrives in the mail.

Received 2 year Green Card in the mail on Saturday 11/30/13, 7 days after application approval. No errors on card. Approval notice/receipt arrived the same day in a separate envelope.

Glad to be finished with USCIS business for 2 years. Visajourney has been a tremendous, incalculable help throughout this process. Thanks to everyone on here who helped us on the way. Although we had some long waits in there, we never had any trouble with our applications or interviews and I think that we can thank Visajourney for showing us the way to do things right. I think Visajourney is a great example of human perseverance. Strangers sticking together to help each other get through their common difficult situation.

Best of luck to everyone still out waiting out there! Your day will come!
