Was just curious and bored...

Real trees are nice but they are a pain in the butt with the needles getting everywhere etc....

I prefer a nice fake tree.... the ones they have now look pretty realistic....

hubby says he wants a real tree because he likes the smell... I told him that we can get a pine scented candle or something :P

I like having multi-coloured lights on the tree and all sorts of different ornaments... I hate those matchy-matchy trees :P....

I didn't select "real" because I assumed "real" meant a once-live, murdered tree. I would never....ever....have a murdered tree in my house. I have had live ones, though. One is still potted (small tree), and the other is growing in my yard.

I'm out of space for trees though, so it'll be fake from now on.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

There's nothing like the beauty and smell of a real one, but they can also be totally in flames in about 5 seconds. Have to go with fake.

We've always had fake trees in our house for Christmas. Although we have a pine outside which we also put lights on, but we leave nature as it is. Oh, and we use multi-colored lights and orniments older me.

Last year I bought a real tree...but still with it's roots. I kept it inside for a couple of days over Christmas and then put it back outside.

I'd never buy a cut down tree.

Single colour lights for me.

I grew up with fake trees, but I prefer real trees the past few years. My parents also have been getting real (aka murdered :P ) trees for a few years now.

We haven't decided if we are getting a real or fake this year, even though we like the real better. It matters how much money we want to spend.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

our family fake tree growing up was always covered with a mix of store bought ornaments and ornaments us kids made in school etc... I loved it....

Our trees were real when I was small. With multi-colored bulbs. The BIG ones. To me its not Christmas without the multicolored bulbs.

I do like "real" trees myself, love the smell, but they are messy. Have had a fake tree for a few years now with white lights. I also love antique ornaments.

this is kind of funny....

so far, 12 out of 18 people prefer real trees but 12 out of 14 people are using a fake tree this year :P

for me it's an issue of affordability. With a fake tree you only pay for it once, and can use it year after year without any additional monetary outlay. With a real tree, you buy a new one every year.

When I was little, we had fake trees every year, but one year in an effort to make some christmas money, my mom started managing a christmas tree lot. As we (my brothers and sisters and I) were all pre-teen or teenagers, we started working there too. It was a great way for a teenager to earn some christmas cash. Yeah you got cold and covered in tree sap, but it smelled glorious, and was good exercise to boot. My mom would always get two trees free at the end of teh season. We'd ake one home, and then give another to a family that couldn't afford a tree. Since most of the clothes I wore at that time in my life had been donated to us by other people, it felt good for us to be abe to give something to someone else.

I love the smell of pine, and to me it isn't christmas untill I can smell pine trees. My favorite tree BTW is the Western Balsam. Second fave is Noble Fir. Hate with a passion scotch pines.

Haven't bought or put up a tree while in US, but...

I do have one (bought in 1974) in Calgary which I wish to bring home on my next trip there.

Got small multicolour lights, tinsel and assortment (glass, plastic, store-bought "other", homemade thermocol) of ornaments.

I voted "fake" and I totally agree with PlatyPius on this one: I would never have a murdered tree in my house!!! :o My husband also happens to be allergic to pine trees and could never be around a real one, so that works just perfectly for us! :P We just use the Christmas scented candles and they smell wonderful!

We bought our little Christmas tree last year and we already put all the decorations up last weekend (I know, we're nuts, but we just couldn't wait!!! ). We have tons of multicolored lights and our ornaments are mostly gold/silver, red and green. I would love to have some personalized ornaments too, so I might work on that next year!
