They prob took the bag to keep the change bowl in. Would look funny walking down the street with a change bowl in hand. I know it sux but be glad you were not there and all they got was cash. You might want to ask neighbors if they happen to see someone walking around with that bag they day you were broken into.

Sorry for the bad luck.

Even with an alarm system, my home was burglarized more than once. I finally put installed secutity cameras and video recording. I put the cameras is obvious locations where they could be seen. That was 10 years ago. I have never had a problem since. They just go to the neighbors where there are no cameras now.

The police that responded to one burglary told me that thieves spend an average of 5 minutes in a home. The alarm system does not deter them as they will be long gone before anyone arrives. The threat of having their picture captured is a far greater deterent.

Most importantly, it needs to be monitored. Otherwise, who will respond if the alarm is triggered?

that's what rottweilers are for :P

If you are considering an alarm system, you need one that protects windows, doors and provides motion detection.

Windows - glass break or vibration detection.

Doors - Magnetic contacts

Rest of the house - volumetric coverage with passive infrared motion detection (PIR)

Most importantly, it needs to be monitored. Otherwise, who will respond if the alarm is triggered?

If it's unmonitored the hope is the thief will think it is monitored and leave. Loud noises should scare away the casual thief. It sounds like it was an opportunity crime.

This thread is interesting because the men on it all offer advice and practical solutions, and the women all offered sympathy. I guess the stereotypes are true.

PS Sorry about this happening. It sounds to me like kids who didn't know what they were doing.

i agree...such is the nature of things

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

maybe a chihuahua is better, i've not seen one yet that does not like to hump a person's leg. and it's difficult to rob a house with a little dog attached to your ankle
