Hi, my wife got a CR-1 visa (she is from Peru) and we just arrived in the use last month on the 25th. We went past border protection and everything went fine, but after we past we where not told what comes next. She has the visa on her passport but she still hasn't receive the green card or social security. Who can I call to see how this process is coming along and how long does it usually take to come in the mail? Thank you!

*** Moving from AOS, as OP came on a spousal visa and so does not need that process, to Moving Here forum as the best fit ****

Immigration wise, you are done till Removal of Conditions in 2 years. You may want to visit your local Scoial Security office if the SSN hasn;t arrived in a week or so- the greencard will come in time, it can take up to three months and in the meantime, the visa with entry stamp in her passport acts as a temp greencard for travel, work etc.

Thanks for the responses, they definitely help us worry less now. When she did her paperwork there was never an application or option to do the Social Security, is this something I can be on doing with just her Passport Visa? Or do I have to wait for the Green card? Thank you so much!

You should wait about 10-14 days after your entry to the US before you apply for a Social Security Number, because the Social Security Administration doesn't have you in the system yet.

Here's a good guide about what you need to do to get one:
