chasing (at least to me) implies running. following can be done at a walk.

Listen to the 911 tape, he was running. You can tell by the labored breath.

If he was walking and TM was running, he would have gotten home before the confrontation. That's what doesn't make any sense.

? In my answer I'm assuming the firearm is concealed. If he is brandishing it then the situation reverses.

Even GZ initial statements to the police indicate that he did in fact brandish his weapon. TM's girlfriend corroborated such. TM knew GZ had a gun before he was shot. The defense might try to say otherwise, but the evidence (witness testimony) supports that theory. GZ may have even felt he was justified in brandishing his weapon, given the fact that throughout the night, he pretended to be a cop.

Good point. Sounds like TM was looking for a fight.

Of couse it does, the guy running away was looking for the fight, and the guy who got called the cops, followed him in a vehicle for about 2 minutes, then got out of his car and "followed" him on foot was trying to avoid it.

I see you're getting a hang of it.

I try to make sense of it all.

GZ has already incriminated himself based on his initial testimony, which establishes that he was in pursuit of the victim, that he ignored the direction of law enforcement, did not wait for the police, and used extreme prejudice in making assumptions about the victim he was stalking. He demonstrated his total lack of regard for safety and instigated a confrontation. What we'll never know for sure, is exactly what happened during the confrontation, but what's most relevant is GZ actions and behavior leading up to that point. And for the record, his claim that he was walking back to his car - TM's body and the location of the confrontation was a good distance and out of sight from his vehicle, which indicates that GZ had aggressively pursued TM on foot. This is a slam-dunk case for the prosecution.

That's what I can't figure out: After Zimmerman ended his call with police, a violent encounter took place between Martin and Zimmerman, which ended when Zimmerman fatally shot Martin 70 yards (64 m) from the rear door of the townhouse where Martin was staying."

If Zimmerman was walking back to his car and TM snuck him, how did they end up so close to his home?

Okay, explain something to me. How could TM be the aggressor in this case? That's what baffles me when folks say he assaulted GZ. He was walking home minding his own business. In order for there to be aggression, there needs to be a confrontation, which happened how? Oh, that's right, GZ got out of his car and chased him on foot. Why can't anyone see this dude might have been scared and attacked out of pure fear? He was being chased by a grown man for no reason other than he looked suspicious.

You asked how could he be the aggressor and justified why he attacked GZ in the same paragraph .. Just saying.

I'm asking how can TM be the aggressor when he was being pursued. Just like I posted earlier, it's like someone antagonizing someone relentlessly, but when the person being bothered takes that first swing, it's their fault. What still astounds me is that TM is wrong for "attacking" GZ, but GZ was completely within his rights for calling the cops on him, following for over 4 minutes, getting out of his car while getting his gun, and chasing this kid on foot.
