Documents stuck somewhere beteween USCIS and NVC

We have been approved since 19 March when we received our NOA 2 but have not had any correspondance since. My husband mailed and called the NVC and USCIS. NVC says it has not arrived yet and USCIS has no answers. They simply tell us to be patient. I heared from someone that you can mail all the documents you send to the USCIS with the affidavit of support and approval letter to the NVC to spead up the process. Does anyone know if it's true and if yes, where do we mail it to?Thank you so much in advance!

No, don't do that. The old timeframes between the USCIS and the NVC are no longer applicable. The local offices are adopting a nasty policy of batching their submissions and sending them once a month. My case took over 6 weeks. That's sadly not uncommon anymore.

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

28 Jun 2013: POE Houston

08 Jul 2013: SSN received (at SSA office)

27 Feb 2014: Whoa, life happened. Planning move "back home" together to Republic of Ireland by end of April.

29 Apr 2014: POE Dublin through Heathrow

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

We were approved on March 27th and still not at NVC yet.

Spoke to USCIS yesterday after 2 hours on hold, said they sent the petition to NVC on the 10th.

After the phone call I got notification text that petition was approved on yesterdays date.

Not sure what to think, will start haunting NVC in a week. Again.

Good luck to OP but you need to be proactive, don't send package unless asked for.

I think it's worth it - to hunt the package with USCIS, until you learn that it's actually out the door on it's way to NVC.

ISO at National Call Center and Congressional Inquiry was the thing that worked for me. Was 31 days past the USCIS approval date until it left, and my casefile was at the local office in Dallas (Irving) TX.

RomeoJuliet,

Local offices in multiple locations are holding approved I-130s for prolonged periods, often more than a month, before sending to the NVC. Mine was stuck in the Houston office for two months. It took my congressperson to get them to send it to the NVC.

Who is your congressperson in Houston?

Do you know why they are doing this ?? How do you find out/ get your congress person to get involved ? We've been approved since Apr 8th NVC says they haven't received it and I just have to wait for a reply from the email they told me to send and USCIS is no help what so ever :( , I really wanted to be gone by the end of July but its looking less and less likely now :( ... My husband lives in Galveston so local office is Houston ..

as to 'the why' -

local offices have local practices.

That's it.. <EOM>

Houstonians, Senator Cornyn's office is familiar with the issue of files being retained at Houston local office, since they helped me with my similar issue. I have guessed that they are batching files, that they seem to be requiring a second review of the files after initial approval, and that more than one file has been mistakenly sent to the National Records Center instead of the National Visa Center.

  • 1 month later...

Thank you so much for all the advise. I am new to the VisaJourney site and only saw all the replies now. We have been following up with them all the time. They just take like a month to get back to you at a time. Good news is that we reveived our letter from NVC Yesterday (27 June) to say that they have received it after wating 3 months for field office to send it to NVC. Thank you Jesus!!! I trust that from here it will go faster. It's been 9 months since I last seen my husband :-( It's only by God's grace that we made it this far.

Thanx ya'll! Does anyone know if we can send the I-864 ( AOS) with the DS 3032? Or do we have to wait for them to ask for it? Please advise if anyone knows? Thank you so much in advance.
