I-485 Approved - August 2012 Filer

From tracking other posts here, it appears as if the NBC is working on August 2012 filers WITH Interview waivers...local field office approvals with an interview are probably much shorter.

Our wait time was exactly 9 months and 4 days, so if you filed after 8/1/2012, expect a 9 month wait.

Thanks for update and congrats! Our NOA is 8/27/13 and got an RFE (They lost medical DS Forms) a couple weeks ago. Even if you are a late August filer they could be looking at your application very soon.

*** Thread moved from main AOS/Family-Based forum to the Case Progress subforum. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Yep, AOS approvals appear to be all over the board.

YMMV.

Good luck to all. Our receipt date was Sept 25, 2012, and is being processed at the NBC at Fort Summit Missouri . We have no idea at what point our i-485 is in the process. My wife is so frustrated when she reads about green cards being issued within 3 or 4 months including an interview in the process. Any words of wisdom? Thanks to all !

Richard, at this point, you probably won't get an interview, so if the NBC is processing I-485's 9 months from the your NOA, you probably won't hear anything until the end of June. I would just keep looking at the posts that roll in for people who are getting approved and see what their NOA dates are...that will tell you how fast or slow the NBC is working on 485's.

Best Wishes!!

Thank you for the update. This post really calms my fear and nerves. We filed our I485 in mid-October 2012 and the USCIS website already shows our case as being outside the normal processing time. A few days ago, I called USCIS and they said that they would give us an update on our case in 15 days (but I don't believe anything they say).

And Richard, my wife feels the exact same way as your wife. She is frustrated and, at times, feels worthless because no company will hire her without a green card (eventhough she does have an EAD). She also can't drive because my state won't give her a license without a green card. This process is completely ridiculous.

Can you get license using AP card, which is a immigration document for 1 year, if not already applied, apply now. Why no job with EAD, need to try little harder, it can happen, talk to recruiters in the field she's in, or change the field to one that has lot of recruiters.
