Just looking for any guidance or sharing of NVC process. First of all, we are using an attorney so apparently the NVC process is a little different. Our I-130 was approved by USCIS April 2. Our attorney received the invoices for both AOS and IV bills (along with our NVC case number) on April 18. She paid both on April 19. All of our documents were received (according to UPS tracking number) at NVC at 9 AM April 29.

And I've heard nothing. I've called NVC twice and both times they've said they are waiting on the documents and it could take up to 20 business days for them to process them once they are received. I'm on my 16th day and still nothing. Should I continue to call? Does it do any good?

Also, what will happen next? Will they email us saying case complete with an interview date at one time or are those two separate?

Any feedback is appreciated.

If they just haven't gotten to your file yet, then it means to wait and call back another time to check the status (16 days is still in their time frame of 20 days). If you have any errors that need to be amended, they will send you a checklist through email. If they accept both your IV and AOS packets, you will get an email when deemed appropriate about your interview (P4).

Edit: How is using an attorney different? You mean your case-specific petition is different? If you don't have any major issues with your case, then an attorney makes no difference in this whole process.

It will be there but until the file info is entered in the system the call

center operators don't have any info for you, they say wait 20 days, sometimes

its a little longer , if verified it was delivered all one can do is wait,NVC

does different background checks

I just mean that the NVC part of the process is different - because we received both bills at the same time along with our case number. Our attorney then submitted everything at once after she paid both invoices.

The reason for receiving both bills at the same time is because normally, the IV bill is not generated until the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) is accepted. But in your case because you have a lawyer, they already are your agent (therefore, sort of bypassing that part). Having a lawyer doesn't mean your wait-time is any different. Wait until your file has been processed, entered into the system and the operators can access it (give them a few more days). If they haven't gotten to your file for a long time (say 25-30 days) then be proactive with calling NVC.

Frankly, I wouldn't have used a lawyer unless a major issue was present but that is your choice. :)
