Fingerprints at interview for K1?

After reading Gideon's post I was wondering about fingerprinting. Asked the question on the foreign embassy forum but didn't get any replies. Ghana people, please let me know what you experienced on this.

Here's the question:

I noticed that some people get a "name hit" at their interview and have to be fingerprinted. This is once the interview is over, the visa is approved, and the visa ready to be prepared, right?

Does this happen with K1 fiance visa applicants or is it just for other types of visas? If it does happen for K1-ers, do you have to have the money right there at the interview to pay a fingerprint fee? How much is it?

Thanks!

I'm not from your embassy, but I am doing a K-1 visa in Amman and we had to do the fingerprints. The fee was $85 and they called him a week after the interview to ask for them, they didn't mention it at the interview. I think they do an initial check with the index fingerprints and if they get a name hit after that, then that is when they ask for full prints.

All applicants must be fingerprinted. If you have to submit two index prints it means your just in routine check and if they ask you to submit all fingers in print it means you have already had a name hit in one of the many data bases. Fingerprints are done for ALL and for National Security reasons.

I went thru another embassy and another type of visa but JP mentioned this fee in her post so it is fairly current.

Good luck,

Mary

Thanks for the advice. So it's $85 for both types of fingerprinting or just the full set if there is a name hit?

The first set of fingerprints which everyone does is done at no cost (2 Index fingerprints), you only pay $85 if they ask for full prints. :star:
