I have done my research on my question by searching the custom search and looking at blogs outside this site and have not found a solid conclusion as to my answer. Can anybody please answer or provide any additional comments on similar experiences they may have had in relation to my situation and questions below? I appreciate all your help

Ok so today I received a letter from the NVC saying the I129 petition has been sent to Rio di Janeiro where my fiance Fernanda will be required to schedule an interview for the K1 visa. Does anybody know what the steps like going forward from this stage in the visa process? We ideally would like to schedule Fernanda's interview in December because that is the only time she can travel and get off work to go to the interview in Rio from Sao Paulo. Does anybody know how the "scheduling" works for the K1 visa interview in Rio?

Also, on my NOA2 it has a "validation" date on it from 4/19/2013 t 08/18/2013. What validation date does this exactly mean? Does this mean that Fernanda must receive her K1 visa before the expiration date of 8/18/2013 or what does this validation date specifically mean?

Thanks everyone for your help!

It only takes a month or two for the consulate to schedule the interview. Most likely it will occur this summer. You can email them in a couple of days to see if they have set the date, or just wait for a letter in the mail with the interview date.

Yes, the I-129F petition expires in 4 months. However, they can usually be extended for up to a year. Contact the consulate and ask about extending the expiration on the petition and if it would be possible to interview that long from now.

She will have to go through the medical examination first. get all the vaccines. after thats done, you can call the consulate or embassy to schedule your interview. you can also do this online. ( she wont be interviewed without Medical exam) the schedule dates are very limited. the sooner you have the interview , the better. The approved petition will expire in 6 months (can be extended to a year) and the k1 should have a visa before it expires.
