I've read on here that you don't need to do the I-134 until AOS. But on the Montreal Consulate website it states that you need it for the interview. Should I do it with the I-864 then? Is this just for Montreal that they require that? http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/visas/visas/fianc-k-1-visas/appointment-checklist.html

I think you are confused. The I-134 is required for the K-1. The I-864 is not needed until the AOS in the USA.

The interviewers go by the guides and income levels of the 864 instructions for the I-134.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

You need the I-134 for the interview for Montreal. The I-864 is for the AoS. The I-134 is just a short version of the I-864. I-864 is more detailed.

I was under the impression from reading all the post on here that it's just the i134 but is this a new thing on the Montreal Consulate website?

No its not new. They have always asked for I-134 for K-1 interviews.

I'm not expressing myself correctly. On the Montreal Website it asks for the I-864 for K1 visa. That's why I put the link up. But from what I've read on here you don't need that one. So why are they asking for it?

The Montreal website combines both the K-1 and the spousal visa information on one page.

You only need the I-134.

Moved from K-1 forums to Canada forums as this is directly dealing with Canada.

Both of those links have only the I-134 required as per the advice of the posters above.

Not sure what is up with that checklist you found on their website. unsure.png

Pretty sure the website checklist has been like that since about 2009. I remember seeing the same thing back then when trying to prep for the interview. lol

Thanks, Inky. I am being very prepared (or trying to be) and it kind of threw me for a loop when I saw the request I-864. Knowing those who've gone through it, etc...is very helpful. What would I do without this site? Oh yeah, waste a lot of money on a lawyer dry.png
