I don't know which forum to post this, so I did both;) Today nov. 20th , I recieved the approval notice for the 129 f. However, for the past couple weeks I also have been going through the process of completing the CR1 visa. I will try to update situation now:

For CR1:

I sen't my 70 dollars affidavit fee just over 2 weeks ago and have not received the next package containing the affidavit forms yet. To boot, the address of the beneficiary was oringially listed wrong, so 2 weeks ago I changed the address with the NVC and had them send her a new package-which she is not recieved aswell(the package I believe contains the form of who will represent her). Tommorow I was planning on calling the NVC and asking them to re-send the package to my spouse and also to check on the progress of the check I sent.

I hope that helps:/

Now for the k3:

Like I said I just recieved the approval letter for the 129. I have gone over the guidelines, and the next steps seem pretty similiar to the cr1. The guide outlines that the next step for the 129 is all to do with consulate and the beneficiary(is this correct? Or is there another step involving me besides mailing my spouse the affidavit documents?) .

I am going to call the NVC tomorrow and talk to them about this, but I am posting to get some feedback from the experinced and helpful people here. What is the suggested next move? It seems that the CR1 and K3 are pretty much at the 'same point' process wise. I have been reading forums and getting unsure feeling of which is quicker, or if it even matters at this point.

Tomorrow, I think I will probably have the CR1 packages resent just in case, but at this point can anyoen give some feedback of which is easier/quicker/better. Thank you in advance.

where does your spouse live? Knowing this may help someone answer your questions.

However, if it were me, I'd just forget about the K3 and continue with the CR1 stuff. Much better visa in the long run, so why spend the money on the K3 now? Besides, if the CR1 stuff gets to the consulate before she's had the K3 interview, the K3 becomes null and void.

I agree with Reba and would not spend any funds for the K3 now. Your CR1 will process on out and like she said you will lose the funds if the CR1 goes to the embassy before the K3 interview. In our case my K3 got to the embassy and then my CR1 one week later. The K3 was cancelled and we had to go the CR1 route which is the better visa and the one we really preferred.

Good luck,

Mary

If I were you, I'd find out how long it takes to get a CR-1 interview vs. a K-3 interview at your consulate. I don't know which country your from so I can't help you there. For us, it takes 1 year at Ciudad Juarez, Mexico to get a CR-1 interview whereas it only takes a few months for a K-3 interview. Ask yourselves if you'd rather be together as soon as possible, even if one person can't work, or if you'd rather wait longer but have permission to work upon arrival.

even if it does take a year to schedule a CR1 interview at their consulate, by the time they re-gather all the stuff for K3 and re-submitt, 6 months of processing, another 3 after aproval...its not going to be done before the CR1 stuff which has already started.

By the looks of it the I-129f was already approved so it will stop at the NVC then forwarded to the Embassy. It really depends on your preference of visa and the ideal timelimit for an interview. If it was me I would finish the IR up then attend that interview. Well, you can let both takes its course and see which one gets to the Embassy first. If the IR then the K3 is void.
