Hello everyone , We just purchased airline tickets for an upcoming trip to the Philippines and I wasn,t sure if I should use my wifes

maiden name as on her passport or her married name as on her Greencard ?.. Also i did not include our middle names for the boarding passes.either

Can anyone clarify this for me ? Will we have any problems? Thanks for answers and Good Luck to all !

name on passport. they will compare the passport to the ticket. the green card is for entering the states, not her passport.

the middle initial shouldn't be an issue, but to be sure, contact the airlines you're traveling on.

Depends on your consulate, for my wife with her passport showing her married name, went to her countries consolate and registered our marriage. While they didn't change that front page with her photo and name on it, did put a stamp on the next page showing her married name.

We purchased her ticket in her married name, could show that in her passport, entered her home country just showing the front page of her passport with her maiden name and left the same way. After through the POE was in the international zone, again her married name, entering this country, flipped the page to show our POE her green card that matched to get back in.

We did carry a copy of our original marriage certificate just in case.

To make things even more complicated, while she could freely enter the country she was born in with her other country's passport she was naturalized in. Wouldn't let her enter with her US passport with her place of birth in it. She had to renew her citizenship in that country, but to use her married name, wanted an extra 3,000 bucks, US to look over all of her papers. But they just let her use her maiden name to save all that. She does use that to enter and leave her country, married name is used for everything else.

I can freely enter and leave her home country because my place of birth is in the USA, get a good welcome and a smile to spend many US dollars there. But then I go there with my girlfriend, not my wife.

Thanks so much for your replys. You guys are right. I called the airline and they said it would be a problem but they could not change it. I had to go through CheapoAir where i bought the tickets . They charged me 450.00 bucks to correct my mistake. what a ripoff ! but..my bad i guess

and now you know.

please, wait for answers before purchasing tickets next time.

don't wanna do that? hey - just put my name on the tickets, send all to me.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

That is crazy. We made that same mistake (husband got my tickets in married name) when we went to the Caribbean. Called the airline and they told us to just bring our marriage certificate. Still had problems at bag check, but once I pulled my green card out, all was well. This was with American Airlines.
