Long story short- My husband (USC) filed a K3 and CR1 for me (Aussie wife) in October, 2012. We didnt file I-130s for my 2 children at the time as we hoped my K3 would get approved quicker and they could be beneficiaries of that.

But both my petitions were approved and reached NVC in February this year and the K3 was closed. So we had to quickly send off I-130s for my 2 girls! Arghh! We sent them off February 22nd.

My husband requested an expedite to get my their stand alone I-130s processed faster on the grounds that mine had already hit the NVC. We knew this was going to be a stretch as ours was not "an emergent situation" but we hoped for the best.

On April 29th we wrote a letter to his state congressman, explaining our situation and asking for help. The congressman called my husband back on May 1st and told him that he would call both NVC and USCIS on our behalf. (Incidentally, we we received a letter from USCIS saying our expedite request was denied on that same day.).

On Thursday 9th of May, both children were approved!!! Woohoo!!!

We feel extremely lucky my CR1 visa only took 5 months to process, and my 2 girls petitions only took 2 and a half months! This had to be due to the congressmans inquiries. We are so blessed!!

My advice to anyone out there still waiting- CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSMAN! Send a letter with details, photos of everyone etc.
