Well it depends who you have chosen as agent on your DS 3032 form or email.

The question is do the agent send original birth certificates for both or notarized copies. I know the marriage certificates should be original.

And if the agent does send notarized birth certificate copies, do I as the beneficiary living abroad need his original for my interview at the consulate? :)

Samreen btw I am also from karachi....are you also a May filer? did you get your I130 approval?

Nope I didn't yet :( I m a June filer. I was transferred on 18th dec. how do u choose the agent for those forms? My husband has filed all forms so I thought he would be the agent

Hi guys,

I have written before, but the current situation is that I filed in May, from abroad, and have heard nothing since. I am wondering what can be done to "attempt" to speed up this process or get some eyes on it. I hear things about people contacting congressmen, but I have a hard time finding info on here since the forums can be daunting to sift through all the info. I am wondering what steps I can do to at least make myself feel a little bit better about it. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello All,

I have been following this forum for a while and thanks for everyone for all the information and updates. This has been really helpful. I have not participated but have been updating the spreadsheet for May filers. I am on the same boat, filed in May got transferred Dec 17th to local office (CSC) and got approval notice on Dec 26th.

I have been trying to do find out on my own and through forums and different sites but getting a little confused as far as the next steps are concerned.

Now I have a few questions and would be grateful if someone can clear them for me.

I understand now after NOA2 approval, our case will be forwarded to NVC.

Do we need to do anything right now or just wait for next steps from NVC?

NAAM> From the experience of others, my understanding is that you start calling NVC after 15 days and ask for the case #

How and when will we find out about the case has been forwarded to NVC and a case number is assigned? can we check that somehow

NAAM> See above

DS-3032 form for choice of Agent, is that something I can do now (online) or wait to receive something here abroad from NVC?

NAAM> You need to wait to get your case # from NVC; also the online form is DS-261.

What is expected wait time to receive DS-3032 to me and for my husband to get AOS fee bill request after the NOA2 approval?

NAAM> It varies, I suggest you follow timelines of some folks (particularly from Pakistan) to get an idea.

My husband will be the "agent" , so once I choose him he will be getting all the packets?

NAAM> Yes

DS-230, who will receive that form me or my husband ? and is that what IV instruction package will contain once the IV Application bill is paid?

NAAM> No more DS-230, it will beonline form DS-260.

What documents will be needed with I-864 and DS-230?

Birth certificates ----- does my husband need my original? he has a stamped copy?)

NAAM> Beneficiary's original birth cert is needed.

Police certificate --- can I get that now? or do I need to show my area police station something as a request from NVC? is that document request part of IV packet?

NAAM> You can get it now; that's what my wife did.

Does my husband (petitioner) leaving in US needs a police report?

NAAM> Police report is needed only for the beneficiary.

If any original documents need to submitted before my interview apart ?

NAAM> For NVC, all documents will be original.

I know its kinda a long list of questions but one liners will suffice

Thanks again

I also have one of those questions. My husband is the petitioner and when he was leaving I gave him my original birth certificate and our original marriage certificate. So the Agent who has to submit that will it be me or my husband? Should I get it shipped or can he submit that from over there?

NAAM> Your husband can mail the originals to NVC, I also have all the originals, and when the time comes for my wife's NVC stage, I will mail the documents from US.

A lot of great info there naam! I will read all of that while we wait for our NOA2! Haha! At least we will be prepared when or if that if ever arrives. By how slow the noa2 is going, they will probably change the procedure before we get to that step.

Did you get a notice saying that you'd hear an answer within 60 days?

We did.

There was a "supplement to I-130 transfer notice issued by the NBC" included with our transfer notice.

It says "If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from the service center within 60 days, please call customer service or submit an inquiry using e-request".

02/07/2014 NOA2

02/25/2014 Case received at NVC

03/28/2014 Case Number assigned

04/01/2014 DS-261 Available and completed

04/07/2014 AOS and IV bills paid

04/09/2014 Sent AOS package

04/10/2014 AOS package delivered to NVC

04/12/2014 DS-260 completed

04/14/2014 IV package sent

04/15/2014 IV package delivered to NVC

04/17/2014 NVC says "one piece of mail" regarding case received, can't specify which one AOS or IV

04/21/2014 "Two pieces of mail received", so AOS and IV packages both logged in.

05/06/2014 Case Complete.

05/13/2014 Interview scheduled

Yeah , I questioned them about that and they told me they were working on Feb. 2013 , which was not helpful. If I go over 60 days, I'm putting in a service request.

There was at least 1. She was at 4 months when she sent in a service report. She got a letter saying she had no time frame, but then she got approved shortly thereafter.

That's 4 months after transfer. Her case was from October 22, 2012.
