We got a transfer notice today by email today too. We're actually being processed at the consulate in Auckland for humanitarian reasons, and it's been a dream dealing with them, so hopefully our file being out of the way in the US will speed someone else up a tiny bit.

the USC is the petitioner and the beneficiary is the applicant.

Yeah well one vjer said in the uscis stage the petitioner and applicant is the usc and during the nvc stage the beneficiary becomes the applicant and the petitioner is plainly the petitioner. And the uscis guy also said im not the applicant. So yeah it's all confusing. But anyways, thanks for the info. :)

My status on the website changed slightly for a third time since Monday. We are in Hong Kong. Not sure yet where our case is and not sure how to find out at this stage but glad we're being worked on somewhere:

The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. Yea I really dont know what paper work or forms I need to start working with. I know I have to submit a I-485, but that is all I know.

So is your wife in the US already? Then as far as I know you could have filed I-485 together with the I-130. Unfortunately I dont know much about that because Im not in the US, so we have a stand alone I-130 filed and no adjustment of status.

Everything you have to do for the I-485 should be explained on the USCIS site, they are usually pretty good with stuff like that. Thats the link http://www.uscis.gov/i-485. It also gives you info on what you need to fill out and what documents to provide.

05/07/2013: I-130 sent
05/21/2013: NOA1
12/12/2013: Transferred to NSC
01/31/2014: NOA2

No problem, but if she is not in the US then you cant file the I-485. You will have to wait for the I-130 to be approved and then apply for a Immigrant Visa.

They are only over the phone assistance. Very useless when it comes to questions about a pending case. Trust what you see from people and hope for the best. These people over the phone get paid to deliver to you the worst case scenario.
