Any progress on the letter alaskafan? When are u planning to mail it? Sorry for being so anxious but it's getting so overwhelming and I feel like this is the only hope we have what u r doing thru this letter sad.png hopefully it will make some difference!

Yes, although I might edit it more, so that ordinary people can better understand our situation - and who do not understand the strange terms of USCIS - it is good enough for promotion. So, you and everybody should email cover letters with the email link to everyone that you can think of. Post a link to it on Facebook, or wherever else you can. We need to drive website visitors to the letter, as many as possible. Spread the word.

Also, you can leave comments - we need more people to put comments in there.

To make our job easier, here is a sample cover letter that you can modify and email to influential people or organizations:

"Dear XXX,

I am writing you to inform you of a major change in the administration of immigration policy, that seems to have been concealed from public view.

In 2013 USCIS decided to stockpile US Citizens' petitions for their immediate relatives to obtain residency. Waiting times are extending to unprecedented levels right now, as a result. USCIS is now projecting 16.6 months, just to adjudicate an I-130. Adding the US State Dept’s processing of the visa, we are now facing a two-year wait.

US Citizens, like myself, who have petitioned for our spouses, have organized, and our letter to a director of a new USCIS facility, where our petitions are currently languishing is online here:

http://uscgreencardpetitionerscommittee.blogspot.com

The letter details what we have learned, about the USCIS's decisions. On behalf of other US Citizens like myself, who are in this predicament, we ask for your support.

Sincerely,

XXXX"

ORDINARY PEOPLE???

I mean people who are not accustomed to the terms, I-130, NOA2, etc. I could have said 'regular folks', or what else would you suggest? When looking at my letter, it is full of these kinds of terms, that I would not expect people who are unfamiliar with the complicated USCIS processes and procedures to know. That is what I would like to fix, so that the maximum number of people who are not familiar with these things can instantly understand the full letter. The only reason we know so much about these things - and believe me, I have better things to do than to learn about the intricacies of USCIS's job - is because their poor handling of our cases motivated us to learn about how they work.

Yes, I think we all wish we could be ordinary people and live ordinary lives, and not have to worry about these things.

I agree.

Also, ordinary people have no idea that there is some sort of process to bring a spouse to the U.S.

They think Green Cards are granted just by showing a marriage certificate. Or something.

When two people are meant for each other, no time is too long, no distance is too far, no one can ever tear them apart.

So I called today to speak to the customer service representative about the i-130 case, and he said although our letters may say it is from "overland park", does not mean it is approved from there and that if we haven't gotten any further notice, it is still at Lee Summit. Can anyone verify that information? I am not sure if this person was a bit clueless or if he was really telling the truth.

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

Oh this is so true! I talk about my immigration struggles on a lot of forums and on my facebook. Not so much for sympathy or advice, but so these "ordinary people" can see that it is NOT as easy as getting married and done. And that if we ever want illegal immigration to be cut down, we first must fix the very damaged system that's in place. I mean what type of poor immigrant has $2000 and 2 years to wait to get a visa?
