I am a May Filers too and just called and they say my I-130 is going to be at the NBC for process. It will only be transferred if they need interviews or biometrics. So hopefully this can be done soon so I can move to the next step.

Aw man really? I've been debating whether or not I should call USCIS to see if my wife's case has been transferred yet.

Has anyone's case been transferred to a Local Field Office yet?

Not us, I called yesterday and our case is still at the NBC. The lady on the phone (tier 2) was not NICE but did say I should hear something in November :-(

K1 - Filed March 2011

- Denied March 13, 2012

- Placed in AP March 14,2012

- Sent back to USCIS November 2012

- Expired March 2013

WASTED A YEAR FIGHTING THE DENIEL

MARRIED MARCH 15, 2013

1-130 Approved 3/3/2014 :-)

Finally made it home 3/18/2014

I am a USC living in Hong Kong. Sent my application in in May 2013 and got receipt back via e-mail within days.

Now I'm waiting for the NOA2.

It's been about 75 days. I noticed on the dropdown menu on the USCIS site to check the case status that my only choice of service cente ris now Vermont. It used to say NBC.

I filed from overseas. Used my overseas address everywhere. And indicated in the cover letter and in the application that I had maintained a U.S. address (my parents) where we'd be moving once my wife got her U.S. visa.

Should I worry about that switch from NBC to Vermont on the USCIS dropdown menu?

Is that a bad or good thing?

I desperately want to get home with my wife and celebrate Christmas with my family in the U.S. -- how likely is that for a May 2013 filer?

Thanks.

Hey Kenix,

Glad to hear you filed back in May! We filed in May as well. The drop down menu that you are seeing is not up-to-date. All standalone I-130 petitions go to NBC as of August of last year. To my understanding, all petitions filed from abroad STAY at NBC until approval/denial.

I hope this helps! I am also hoping for approval by Christmas but honestly it doesn't look like case. NBC is moving very slowly. There are I-130 filers from February, March, and April that are still waiting for approval.

Justin

Hey Justin,

Good to hear from you. I got my e-mail receipt NOA1 on May 20 and they received it on May 17 -- looks like our timelines are parallel so far!

Glad to hear about the dropdown -- I hope that's the case!

Good luck to you and your wife as well!

Thanks for the file! It's just a little confusing now: if they were processing all petitions inhouse without field offices, why would field offices report getting those numbers of I-130 that they are reporting even for april and may this year?

Well "they say" that the only time it's transferred to field offices in when the person need an interview. Which would explain them receiving the I-130s. I'm guessing

Judging by May data - definitely wasn't like that then. I counted the number of pending petitions of all field offices and subtracted it from total national pending. Less than 200 would've been at NBC. There's no mention of the Overland Park office there for May.

I'm the beneficiary.

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.
