I'm hoping my file was in the same batch as yours and maybe on the same agents desk. I am sure USCIS is the same as every other organization. 10% of the people do 95% of the work; and the rest are just f...ing the dog!

I was also approved today 2-3-14.

On 1-31-14 I received a notice of address change:

On January 31, 2014, your address was changed relating to the I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN that you filed. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283for live assistance.

Tried to get a hold of an officer Friday to no avail and I finally got someone on the line today (2-3-14) morning, and they were very rude and told me there were no updates.

And then a few minutes later:

On February 3, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I don't get how USCIS operates, but I'm glad it is finally approved.

Mine transferred to NSC on 12/5. My PD is 5/1. I've heard NOTHING from them.

Your 2 months is up did you get the approval?

It really sucks that they cannot keep their word. Why do they even say 2 months in that case.

They could have said say we approve at our will without any logic order or reason.

No, I still have not been approved. On day 57 since my transfer, I called their “Customer Service” number and spoke to a Tier 2 officer, who said that my petition has been assigned to an adjudicator and that now the timing is just dependent on the workload of that adjudicator.

It was really frustrating to get to a Tier 2 officer who would help. The Tier 1 rep gave me the canned speech to tell me that my petition has been transferred and that it’s within normal processing time according to their current timelines, etc etc. I listened politely, then she listened politely as I politely let her know that I’m a member of a large online community of well-educated US citizen petitioners, and that we all know that our petitions are backlogged because USCIS has chosen to focus on DACA, and that we’ve all seen approvals of USC petitions filed much later than our own as a USCIS strategy to make their waiting average better.

I also told that I understand that USCIS wants to frame the conversation to label the current waiting time as “normal” in context of their definition, but that there’s nothing “normal” about the wait times, especially for those of us waiting 9+ months. I then told her that I wanted to talk to a Tier 2 to find our exactly what’s going on with my file, and whether it’s actually assigned to someone or buried on a desk.

She transferred me to a Tier 2; the hold time was 114 minutes, and I could hold or choose a callback option. I was assured by the recording that I wouldn’t lose my place in line by choosing the callback option. It was 4:20 pm, and their hours are 8 to 6 so I chose the callback option.

They didn’t call me back of course. I called them back at 8:30 the next morning and after an hour of going twice through a Tier 1 and being transferred to a rude Tier 2 who hung up on me after I asked their name, I finally got to a very kind Tier 2. By that point I was so frustrated that I cried and asked her to please give me a minute to compose myself. She actually tried to soothe me and said she knew it was frustrating, etc. Other than telling me that the worst of the wait time is behind me and that my petition is assigned to an officer, though, I didn’t really learn a lot. When I can take the time, I’ll call again and ask if they can be more specific about the workload of the officer assigned to my petition, and ask if background check etc has even been started.
