Passport photos "too old"???

Question about passport photos--

I had my (canadian) passport photos taken about a month ago.. However, I havent gotten around to completing my application until now. Are the photos too old? Do I need to have new, more recent, ones done in order to submit them with my application? Do they ever "expire"?

Technically I suppose, but reality is a different situation since the photos are undated.

.. I just double checked, thinking that I was crazy...

But, alas, mine are dated.

How is is dated? Somebody write a date on the back?

P.S. If the photo that you have on your profile is in fact your passport photo, I do not think it meets the specification anyways.... :lol:

Yes mine were always dated as well, I can't imagine a month old is bad, I had an original one taken when I applied and then had new ones done when I went for my interview so I am sure the ones you have are fine.

2011 April 1 - Arrived in Texas at 10:21 am

2011 April 1 - NOA (rec'd via snail mail April 8)

2011 April 7 - Cheque cashed

2011 May 5 - Biometrics (letter rec'd via snail mail April 15)

2011 May 9 - Placed in line for interview scheduling

2011 June 13 - Rec'd yellow letter (no change in status online)

2011 June 23 - Rec'd text that my case has been scheduled for interview

2011 August 1 - Interview (rec'd via snail mail June 27) PASSED

2011 August 3 - Rec'd email that my case has been scheduled for Oath

2011 September 1 - Oath ceremony (rec'd snail mail Aug 5)

2011 September 1 - All done, yeah.

I believe that all Canadian passport photos are dated. I personally don't think it's worth saving a few dollars when it could give an excuse to some official somewhere to cause delay if they decide to be nitpicky.

I don't think a month is bad. The application doesn't state "within 30 days" on it. If there's one close to you, apply in person at the passport office. Canada Post is so sketchy that it might take a long time if you mail it in. Plus, I don't trust them to not lose any originals I send.

For I129f application, definitely must be within 30 days. However, when you get closer to interview date and you need like 4 or 5 identical pics for medical, interview etc.... then it doesn't have to be within 30 days, as long as they are all identical.

Oh! In that case it should be fine since you'll need a guarantor to sign it and your paperwork (which will also be dated by the guarantor). Definitely visit the passport office to expedite processing instead of mailing it in.

Yep I just did the Canadian Passport thing too. Photos must me dated and one of them signed by a guarentor or whatever. The photos cannot be more then a year old. I had mine taken in Oct and probably will be sending it in when I get it signed by my parents friend (a vet) who knew me as a teen. So when I finally submit for my passport, my photos will be several months old by then...
