Varicella "not age appropriate"?

Hi,

Apologies for starting a new thread on this - I searched and searched but couldn't find an answer.

I'm confused about the varicella vaccine. On my husband's DS-3025 the "Not Age Appropriate" box is checked for it. The Civil Surgeon is telling us he has to have it in order to transfer the info to the I-693A.

Does he have to get the vaccine?

If he has had CP does he still have to get it?

If no, what do we have to provide as proof he has had it?

Thanks in advance!

I believe he will have to have it, although maybe not if he already had chicken pox. The civil surgeon that I went to accepted my verbal statement that I had chicken pox when I was 4 and I didn't need to get the varicella vaccine.

My husband has to get the CP vaccine too, I laughed at first when he told me that, I thought it was a joke...I don't see why it is necessary I don't know any American who has gotten a CP vaccine. Either you got it or you didn't.

Just another way to collect money....I'm telling you this process...gets you coming and going

Exactly the same thing happened to me, the doc said "you had chicken pox as a child, right?", and I truthfully answered yes, and he ticked the box.

We checked his med records and no sign of vaccine and he can't remember if he had it.

Do you think we can get away with just sending in the DS3025?

I've read in VJ some people get rfe's and some don't. But I don't know what countries they're from, if that even matters at all.

Thanks everyone!

My husband knew he had chicken pox as a child, but didn't know exactly when. Instead of getting the varicella vaccine again, he just had his blood drawn to show he had enough immunities to it. :star:

Thats blood work though, and more $$$. Those tests can often cost more than getting the vaccine.

That box was checked for James and he didn't have to get the vaccine.

I did not have CP and so had to get the vaccine, every adult either has to get it or show immunity against CP. Some docs believe the verbal statement, some don't.

Try to get the vaccination done at your doctor, a lot of insurances cover it. Then ask them to give you proof of the vaccination (vaccination passport, papers, whatever you/they have)....

I didn't know too many people either who had the vaccination in Germany nor did I know people who ever had CP. But apparently USCIS wants us to be vaccinated so do it.

And no, you cannot send in the medical form from your homecountry, it needs to be the I-693A otherwise you will trigger a RFE.

Bonne chance!

Nope....we went to the health dept. Blood work, and shots were only $26.00 :star:

I wanted to get my second varicella shot (you need two to be immune) and called the Health Dep here - $120 for the varicella shot. I rather got it at the doctor's office with a $20 copay.
