Most of these attacks by aggressive dogs occur where the owner of the animal can be clearly identified. These owners ought to be held fully accountable as if they did the attack themselves. You do that and you'll see far fewer dogs roaming around.

That's a tough call to make. Animals, however well trained, are still able to switch and attack people. What if the animal was provoked and was just trying to protect itself? People are already forced to put pets to sleep for biting if it's reported, which can be a ridiculous punishment in some cases.

In this case, the above isn't applicable. The dogs were strays.

I like animals. That being said, if a dog attacks a human, it must be put down. Humans come first and you can't risk it happening again. If these pit-bulls were strays, I bet they weren't always. Darnell may be more accurate than humorous this time.

I agree that it's a good choice to put the animal down in many cases, but sometimes the "biting" is provoked after physical teasing of the dog and I don't find it OK to immediately put the animal down when it's defending itself against the cruelty of humans.

The pit bulls were probably dumped after fighting or something, but it'll be almost impossible to trace back to the owners if that's the case.

Not really. It's your dog, it's your responsibility. If your dog bites someone in your yard that has no business being in your yard, you're home free. If your dog bites someone out on the street, you're on the hook for whatever fido did. Control your animal and keep it away from others. If you can't do that, don't have a pet.

Ban pit bulls!!

That's right, Spooky !!!

Sorry, that was a knee jerk reaction from me.

I actually think that you can not:

1. breed pit bulls

2. own a pit bull

without a license and insurance

covered by Federal law.

That's not gonna happen in my lifetime, alas.
