Any of you fine folks have experience with a Service in Bangkok to help with filling out English forms. My GF doesn't have sufficient English skills to handle it on her own.

You could fill them out for her & fax or scan them to her for signature and submission. There are places that will do it but beware of the cost & timing. Do not pay up front.

My then fiance and I also had the same concerned you do. We decided to hire a service office to help her fill out the forms and to gather the proper/required documents. I ended up doing the petition myself and they complete her visa application in Thailand for her. Please note that they charge about 800 dollars for that service and that you have to pay in advance, but the service includes the translations and the official approval from the Thai ministry of foreign affairs. You may call them to see if you want to use them. I used them and I was very happy with the results. They are siam legal, they have offices in Bangkok, Pukhet and Chiang Mai. They have several paralegals working cases. Our paralegal was great. His name is Martin Juarez. They have a US number for ytour convenience that automatically transfer to theit office in Bangkok. (323) 515-4462 and (323) 482-1525.

Good luck

Juan

There is nothing wrong with doing it this way but there is really no need to spend 800 dollars to do what most of us did by ourselves. In this example we see the use of the " official" approval from some Thai ministry. This simply isn't a factor nor a requirement.

It all depends on the couple, their situation and admin skills. I am furtunate enough to be able to pay the fee. Please don't get hang up on the translations; after I spent 45 minutes on the phone trying to explain my wife how to print a form from a computer at a ciber cafe, I realized that the $800 was going to be well worth it, and it was. I applaude everyone's wives for being able to pull it off without help, but not everyone is able to do that for one reason or another. This service was right for us and I would recomend it to anyone in the same situation we were.

Ya, I've decided to do the forms here and mail them over for her signature. There is of course a risk of loss, but hopefully it goes well.

Good luck to you guys!

I had to register my marriage with the MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) out on Chaeng Watthana road for some reason. Might have been because I was going to get a Non-O Thai visa, but I don't think so. OP is K-1, so it really doesn't matter.

In Juan's case, it makes no sense at all, because there is no marriage to register with MFA.

So bottom line, unless you get legally married in Thailand, there should be no interaction whatsoever with the Thai MFA.
