I'm in the process of sending in my I-864 for my wife, my sister will be the co sponsor.

Since late February I've been unemployed and is currently looking for a job.

I will be sending a unemployment letter, does anyone have a sample unemployment letter i can use?

What information will be required?

I saw one on here somewhere but I'm unable to locate it.

Unemployment letter is not necessary. They want employent letter fron your co-sponsor.

I went to this "immigration expert" who has been doing this type work for a very long time, it is one of the documents they said will be required since i'm not working.

On another note me and my wife have had quite some confusion on the police clearance and passport clearance certificates for India. My wife has obtained the passport clearance without issue. The expert said this will be two separate documents I will need to bring so they can put the packet together, the other day i called NVC to question if it will ok to bring the police clearance to the interview instead of submitting it with DS-230. The person I spoke to at NVC told me that its not required for Indiamad.gif. Defiantly I'm going with what NVC says.

The "immigration expert" also told me since my sister will be co-sponsoring and she files taxes jointly with her husband that he will also need to provide a photocopy of his passport and a employment letter..? has anyone heard of this? I haven't seen this requirement anywhere.

Ive came to the conclusion that they don't know what their doing and are requesting more info then is needed in hopes NVC will be more likely to accept?

Any who I've decided to do this on my own with my and my sisters 864, three years of tax info for her and me(i know only one is required), her employment letter, her pay check stubs and a copy of her passport bio page.

What do ya'll think?

The letter is if you have not filed a tax return.

To whom it may concern,

I, ________, petitioner of ________ did not file a tax return in _____ because I was unemployed.

Sincerely

Let me try to answer some of the questions you may have. I did not understand what that "expert" you are referring talking about.

1. In India, you need to have PCC-passport clearance certificate only and PCC can be obtained from the passport office. Not sure which state you are requesting the PCC, but some local passport offices have different set of rules that you need to bring certificate from local police to get PCC from passport office.

2. You said you are unemployed since February of 2013 or 2012. I think it is Feb 2013. If you worked in 2012, made more than the 125% of poverty guidelines and filed your taxes, send your recent Tax returns to NVC. You not require a sponsor in this case.

3. Please remember sending employment letter and pay slips are extra evidence but not necessary unless asked for. If you are unemployed since Feb 2013, if I were you, I would refrain from sending unemployment letter to NVC- you are creating more troubles.

Yes i submitted the pass port clearance certificate. Which requires the passport office to requests info from the police station.

Ive been unemployed since February of this year, I had my sister as the joint sponsor.

3. Please remember sending employment letter and pay slips are extra evidence but not necessary unless asked for. If you are unemployed since Feb 2013, if I were you, I would refrain from sending unemployment letter to NVC- you are creating more troubles.

I didn't include a unemployment letter, but my I864 does state my unemployment.

Bolded is incorrect. The NVC and embassies are highly focused on CURRENT earnings. So if you are unemployed, unless you have enough assets, I strongly suggest having a joint sponsor. You're lying if you do not say you're currently unemployed. You do NOT have a current income.
