birth certificate translation???

Hi guys!!! I am sorry I keep asking questions lately, but I really need to file for AOS. I was wondering if the birth certificate translation in english has to be notarized?? or can it be translated by me? a friend? How did you guys do it???

It doesn't have to be notarized, but it needs to be certified accurate by the translator. If you or one of your friend are/is competent, you/he/she can translate it yourself. You can also hire a professional translator.

I translated myself, got no problem. However, a few people on VJ got a RFE because they translated themselves (very picky officer I think). It's pretty rare, but it happened. The USCIS doesn't mention anywhere that you can't do it yourself...

Yes, as didopage stated, you can have anyone that is fluent in both languages do the translation. Just add that certification on the translated document. My husband translated his own birth certificate with no problems.

Do we need to write this I the start of at the end of the birth certificate?
