Called Vancouver on the 235 Ext. and got a girl who asked what I wanted.. I said I wanted to check and see if Vancouver had my petition yet.

She asked for the case number; I said "VAC..." and she cut me off saying "if it has a VAC number, it means we have it."

Okay so, she forwarded me to the "Visa Section" so I could ask if they sent out packet 3, and lo and behold the cranky woman who answered the phone said "There's no record of your case on file." And hung up on me.

/sigh.

So much for straight answers

They give it a VAC number at NVC I think. I got mine from NVC anyhow.

I wonder if they were just blowing you off, or if they still haven't received it yet. Seems odd. Maybe they just have a pile of them and haven't got around to entering it in the system?

Vancouver usually prefers you email them. In my experience, now over a year ago, they replied within 24 hours.

edit: It also seems to work faster if you have the USC do the emailing.

You're correct in that the NVC assigns the number. It can take up to 30 days for the consulate to receive it.

(Mine was 3 weeks but was also misdirected to Montreal first so it shouldn't take too long for it to show up.)

Well that's what I thought.. and I told the girl that "NVC gave me that number" but she didn't seem to want to listen.

Also, I've emailed them three times now and haven't heard a word since.

NVC told me it has been forwarded as of the 14th.

How frustrating!

It's only been 6 days, give it some time. It has to get to Vancouver and then they have to process it. It's probably sitting on someone's desk right now. I know it's hard, but try to relax. You're going through Vancouver, so once they get the case everything will move along very quickly.

If I knew it was in a pile I'd be happy :P

I just hope it isn't lost in the mail or still sitting at NVC hehe.
