These types of religious rules are just stupid IMO.

I'm Catholic and I have never observed the "no meat on Fridays" BS. It was created by the fishing industry years and years ago to drive up fish sales. I'm sure God is not going to punish his people for enjoying a fat juicy hamburger or steak on Friday. As I'm sure Allah won't strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger for eating some bacon.

After all, isn't God (whoever you see that to be) supposed to be good? I would think he would want you to enjoy food and life.

There is a cleansing ritual, I've heard it's pretty intense. Once I converted and came back here, it was hard at first since pork is in so much of the food I used to eat but didn't know. Mostly, if you ask, resturants will tell you if they use pork fillers.

No no, nothing about religion(especially Catholic) is supposed to be enjoyable. You suffer profusely, give them all your money, thank God for everything good and blame the devil for all that is evil. Who wouldn't want to join a paradise like that?

My wife's grandfather was Muslim and that may be why my wife says she does not eat pork.

She does, however eat and like ham, Canadian bacon, and on some occasions regular bacon!
