Hi all.

So I had my Day 1 of medical exam yesterday. Day 2 is scheduled tomorrow (not today, not next week, but tomorrow because they have to read my son's skin test results within 48-72hrs)

Now they want me to bring the appointment letter with me. I just realized I haven't received one yet.

It is good that they didnt turn me away and let me have the medical exam without it (until Day 2 apparently). I just used my pre-registration print-out and USEM visa interview appointment to show my MNL#. I read somewhere on VJ that they just need me to provide my MNL# and that the visa interview appointment was the appointment letter they are requiring.

What will happen if by tomorrow I still dont have this "appointment letter"? Is there a way I could request it from NVC or USEM urgently?

Please advise, and thank you in advance.

You are K-1, did you schedule your appointment online or called the embassy to schedule it?

If you scheduled online did you print out the confirmation page after scheduling? If you called the embassy to schedule did they send you an email confirmation?

I just checked with my wife (then fiancée) and she said she used the confirmation page from when I scheduled her interview online. I had saved a copy as a PDF and emailed it to her, she printed out a copy to take to SLEC.

Oh, my wife NEVER got an appointment letter from the embassy after scheduling the interview. She did everything with the confirmation page from scheduling online.

That has been more than adequate for SLEC, plus we used the confirmation page from online with USEM on interview day also.

I presented the ff to SLEC:

-pre-registration printout

-K1 visa interview appointment (scheduled online)

-NOA2

And SLEC is still looking for an "appointment letter" that officially assigns me my MNL#

How do I get one urgently? Need it tomorrow...

Can I just tell them we dont have it?

There is a letter from NVC (this is the letter that officially assigns the MNL #) that was sent to the petitioner this letter lists your name, your INS # and the MNL #, he didn't send a copy to you?

Ask him to scan it and send you a copy.

The requirement at St. Luke's online states "Appointment letter from the Embassy or Instruction letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), if available,"

My fiancée was asked for this 2 days ago at her medical. She gave them 2 copies of the appointment letter she'd printed out when scheduling the interview. They asked for the other letter, but ultimately didn't need it on either the first or second day. When she finished the medical yesterday they told her that her medical was good and just go to the embassy next week. In short, they didn't "require" that she submit anything more than the interview appointment letter printed online, and the additional documents, of course.

My guess is you won't need it tomorrow. However, your fiancée can scan and email the NVC letter to you and you can print it and take it with you. That should satisfy them, if it's required.

Good luck!

On the same note........

I have the NOA2 but no letter from NVC yet.

We are planning to schedule the interview for 2 weeks (or as close to as possible) today after she pays the BPI fee for the Visa Application.

Do we have to wait to get the letter from the NVC so I can scan it and send it to her or are we ok with just doing everything online?

I haven't scheduled the appointment with the embassy yet but I'm assuming there is a confirmation page that comes up at the end that you can print off that should have the date of the interview with your MNL number along with other pertinent information for the medical......... am I right?

Its possible that SLEC is starting to become more "difficult". For quite some time SLEC has been happy with the interview confirmation page from scheduling online, but who knows maybe the embassy is leaning on them to require a letter confirming the assignment of the MNL #. Just in case I added this info to "the list"

oh really, they are asking for the appointment letter from the embassy or nvc? i will be having my medical exam also next week. i read also from some thread that we dont need that one as long as you have the appointment letter of interview( the one mailed by usem after setting up your appointment over the phone, or the printed copy after scheduling an interview online). are they very strict about this letter now? in my case, i only got my mnl number from the nvc last monday. the nvc did not send the case yet to usem, however i was able to set my interview date early june over the phone. hoping it will be send in a week time. please update us if they really need that or else i cannot go with the medical.but i hope they wont, so it would be easy and quick for all of us...

goodluck:)

From what was posted earlier the appointment letter (if you scheduled by phone) from the embassy should be acceptable as it should have the MNL # in it (the online confirmation page may be what they are getting picky about), the letter NVC has all the info as well and is mailed out to the petitioner once the MNL # is assigned. If you got the MNL # this past Monday then the letter from NVC will not be far behind, just get a copy of it and bring along... just in case SLEC is changing things. The letter from the embassy (very few see this letter is the issue) or a copy of the NVC letter that the petitioner gets should handle what they are requesting.

Thanks for the replies.

My fiance has not yet received that letter that NVC is supposed to mail him. We got our MNL# 15 days after NOA2 via phone inquiry.

He called NVC today and begged them to send us the MNL# confirmation. This email doesn't look like an appointment letter but it should be enough, I hope, to establish eligibility if they really want something more than my self declared MNL# reflected on the visa interview appointment printout.

What a timely thread.

I got the letter, so I scanned it and sent it to my fiancee who will print it out before going to the medical.

My parents were asked the same thing. The appointment confirmation(s) my parents printed off from ustraveldocs didn't have the case numbers only their names. SLEC wants to see both the MNL case number & name of the applicant. It doesn't have to be the interview letter but just an email from NVC. But they were allowed to start day 1 of the medical & to just bring the NVC letter later that day or the next day. Which they did within that day. A bit of a hassle but it turned out just fine.
