I am filing for my husband who lives in Pakistan.
I am a US citizen.
I don't make enough money, so my friend is filing as a joint sponser
and he has filled out the I-864 and gave his supporting tax documents.

I just wanted to know, do I have to fill out an I-864 as well?
and give in my tax forms as well? even if I don't make the minimum amount.
Please reply back soon

Thank you so much for your quick reply, I really appreciate itt

If you can please tell me, what box would I check on the first page? my friend is sponsoring has checked D- I am the only Joint Sponser.

So what would I check? and would I have to fill out all of the forms in the packet and sign at the end even if I am not the one really sponsoring my husband (since I don't meet the financial requirements)

I have to submit my w2 tax form, is there anything else?

and I read somewhere that the form has to filled out in all CAPS, my friend who is the joint sponsor filled it out in regular letters. Will they not accept it?? just because the letters aren't capital :\

and on the first page #9 it says to check one. Which do I check? Yes? or No (Applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors) ?

I am so confused :(

Yes- as the petitioner, you are always the primary sponsor, no matter how much or little money you make.

You are really sponsoring your husband (should he need public assistance, they will come after you first and the joint sponsor second) so yes, you fill out the form.... with lots of zeros if needed (don't leave stuff blank- write "none" or N/a" as appporiate).

I don't have the form in front of me but there is probably a check box for "primary sponsor" or something? That would be the one you check.

There is no box on Part 3 that says "primary sponsor" so I don't know which box to check?

There are three choices
-- 1- I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in Part 2 above.

--Yes
--No (applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors)

So I just pick YES or do I put YES and the first box - I am sponsoring the principal immigrant.

Sorry to be so annoying :( I'm just really confused. I thought only the person sponsoring with their tax forms for my husband had to fill this whole form out
